Mr. Timothy Daniel Merritt passed away early Thursday morning, February 17, 2022, at his residence in Butte, Montana, with his loving wife at his side. Tim was born on May 09, 1955 in Butte, Montana. He was the son of Daniel Francis and Bernice Lucille (Silver) Merritt.

Tim attended St. Joesph's Parochial School and graduated for Butte Central. He also attended Butte Vo-tech. He was employed by the Montana State Department of Transportation for 39 years.

On June 24, 1978, Tim married Marylynn Louise Welter at Aldersgate Methodist Church in Butte, Montana. They remained constant companions until his death.

Tim was active in Holy Spirit Catholic Parish. He shared his faith with others by providing the Eucharist to residence of the Springs at Butte, a long-term nursing home and assisted living facility. He was also active in the Butte Karate Club.   Tim was avid collector of hats and hat pins. He often enjoyed the simple pleasure of taking a drive and adding to his collection from the places he visited.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the Butte Cancer Center, the staff at Senior Solutions, especially Julie Tresidder and Deacon Dan McGrath: Father Craig Hanley, Rene Crosby, and Holy Spirit Parish, and Todd Bartle and the staff of Duggan Dolan Mortuary.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents and Father-in-law and Mother-in-law; his nephew, Bennie Jo Welter; and great nephew, Bradley John Kessler. His is survived by his wife, Marylynn; son, Brian Timothy Merritt, daughter, Shawna Marie Merritt; and grandsons, Beau Lew Didly and Hercules Daniel Hannafin. He is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Denise and Loren Mansanti, and Debbie and Mike Thatcher; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Margie Welter and Leonard Welter; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Friends may call this morning (Tuesday) after 10:00 am in Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Memorials are suggested to the Butte Central Catholic Education Fund, or the charity of the donor's choice.
