Theresa Ruth Hocking, 66

Theresa Ruth "Terri" (Gageby) Hocking passed away on Monday, November -1, 2021 at the age of 66, in Butte, Montana. Terri was born on March 14, 1955 in Butte, Montana to Dorothy (Branson) and Wayne "Gub" Gageby. Terri was raised in Butte. She attended MSU (Montana State University) and received her degree in Nursing. After receiving her degree, she began her career as a nurse at St. James Healthcare. At the age of 23, while continuing her nursing career, she met her one true love, Michael "Mickey" Hocking. Thus began their romance. On August 02, 1980 they were pronounced husband and wife and never looked back.

Shortly after marriage, Mickey and Terri welcomed their first son, Jack, on December 22, 1981. Terri continued working in the Pediatric Department when on December 30, 1984 she gave birth to her second son, Adam. Their family was complete. She continued working at St. James for another 10 years before turning her talents toward the Health Department. She began there as the Silver Bow County Health Nurse and eventually worked her way to the County Health Director, all the while remaining in the house the Hockings has built on Hobson Street. In addition to her busy life taking care of others, Terri enjoyed fishing, camping, ceramics, and, most of all, baseball. GO BRAVES !!!

Terri is survived by her sons Jack (Mariah Wise, Bronson Robbins) and Adam Hocking; daughter-in-law, Samantha Hocking; brother, Dan Gageby; brother-in-law, John and Terry Hocking, and Tom Davis; sisters-in-law, Staci Davis, Tracy Gageby, and Karla Gageby; and numerous nieces and nephews, which include Cassie Boggess and Kathleen Combo Garduque. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Angelling and Jailyn; and her grandsons, James and Breindel.

Terri was received at the Gates of Heaven by her loving husband, Michael E. Hocking; parents, Dorothy and Wayne Gageby; daughter, Jessica; son, Jason; granddaughters, Andrea and Koryssa; mother-in-law, Leona Brennan; and brother, Steve Gageby.

Friends and family may call on Saturday after 9:00 am in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Rite of Committal will be held immediately following Mass in Mountain View Cemetery. A reception will be held at the East Side Club following graveside services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Butte Central Education Fund, or the charity of the donor's choice.
