Stephen Anthony Rotering, 73, passed away on April 17, 2021 at St. James Healthcare in Butte, Montana.  He was born in Butte on April 08, 1948, the third child of Catherine and Lewis Rotering.  He attended the Immaculate Conception Parochial School, Boys Central High School, and the University of Montana, from where he graduated in 1973.

Steve was widely known for his encyclopedic knowledge of sports and was often called upon to settle a bet.  He was a staunchly loyal fan of the Detroit Lions, the Philadelphia Phillies, the University of Montana Grizzlies, and Notre Dame.  He will always be remembered as a kind, generous, and compassionate that he received man who was admired and loved by his family and friends.

Steve was very appreciative of the care that he received at the Beehive Assisted Living Facility, where he had been a resident for the past several years.

Steve was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis Rotering; and his sister, Mary Rotering-Petty.  He is survived by his sister, Denise Rotering-Derby; his nieces, Cathy Rotering, Stephanie Rotering-Pushkaric, Erin Derby, and Maureen Patty; his nephews; Lewis, Moses, and Noah Petty; and his grand-nieces, Sydney and Sarah Pushkaric, and Auden Harker.

Steve was laid to rest in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, where Graveside Servies were conducted on April 22, 2021.
