Shirley Ann Van Elsberg, aged 74, passed away on June 26, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born on April 18, 1951 in Hardin, Montana. Shirley was a beacon of kindness and love throughout her life.

Shirley married the love of her life Clarence Ronald Van Elsberg on August 21, 1970. They were very happy and their love was so strong it lasted over 50 years.

Shirley graduated from Hardin High School in Montana and later attend cosmetology school, enriching her skills and interests. Shirley left a lasting impact on her community through her career. She dedicated over ten years to running a daycare. Following this, she served in the Butte School District's lunchroom for over 30 years, where she earned the affectionate nickname Miss Kisses from the children she cherished.

Aside from her professional life, Shirley was an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, where she deeply valued the friendships she formed.

Shirley bravely fought and survived lymphoma cancer, showcasing her strength and resilience. Shirley was also an organ donor. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, always ready to provide warmth and care.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence (Ron) Van Elsberg; her son, Brian (Kim) Van Elsberg; her daughter, Kimberly (Gary) Bowen; grandchildren Blake Bowen, Dylin Van Elsberg, Aireanna Bowen, Cordel Bowen and Kyle Van Elsberg; adopted great-grandchildren Xylia, Dexter, and Aspen; siblings Gloria (Jack) Andersen, Marilyn Umstead, Debbie Braaton, Joann (Tim) Koep, Jim (Patty) Braaton, Tom (Joan) Braaton, and John (Kim) Braaton; and her cherished grand dogs Sadie, Ryder, and Aries. Shirley also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilhart Preszler and Theresa Braaton; grandsons Kelly and Dale Bowen; great-granddaughter Macy Jem; sister Sandy Wandle; and brothers Mike and Ron Braaton.

A celebration of life will be held on August 16, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Stodden Park pavilion to honor Shirley's memory. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the local food bank, lymphoma cancer research, or epilepsy research, causes that were significant to her.

Shirley's passing leaves a void in all of our hearts, but her memory will live on in all that knew her forever.
