Samuel L. Holodnick, 72
June 9, 1950-November 15, 2022

Samuel Lee "Sam" Holodnick was born in Butte, MT to Samuel D. and Delores (Casey) Holodnick. After attending local schools, Sam enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War serving his country for six years.  Sam married Rozanne Navarro in 1970. Following his term of enlistment, together they settled in Butte and raised five children. Sam worked as a master mechanic. During his career, Sam was a business owner and worked for various repair shops throughout MT before returning back home to Butte to retire.  Sam was well-known for his quick wit and his willingness to help others in need, especially with repair work.  Sam later married Hue Le in 2012, returning often to Viet Nam to visit his extended family. Sam enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, listening to music and telling great stories.

Sam is preceded in death by his parents, his brother David, his sisters Rosemary Abney, Katherine Kizer, and nephew, Michael Reed. He is survived by his wife Hue, sisters Pat McCabe, Sally (Mike) Reed, and Delores Santos.  His children and grand-children, Ronald (Martique) Gabriel and his children: Ashley Elliott, Gary, Alice Gabriel of Butte; John (Christine) Holodnick and their children: Alex, Benjamin, and Caden of Spokane, WA; James Holodnick and his children: James S. Holodnick and Cassidy (Alan) Jessop of Helena; Brenda (Greg) Raiha and their children: Brooke and Ty Raiha of Butte; and Julie (Ben) Hamilton of Butte.  He is also survived by his step children, Hung Ngo (Nhu Trinh)—Anna and An Nam Sam; and Hoa Ngo (Tram Nguyen)—Han Mary, of Ho Chi Min City, Viet Nam. Sam is survived by seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Duggan-Dolan Mortuary on Saturday, November 26 ^th .  Visitation will begin at 10 am, followed by remarks and military honors at 11am.  Reception will follow at the East Side Athletic Club.
