Ryan Steven
Sharkey
Jul 20, 1988 — Oct 5, 2026
Ryan Steven Sharkey (38) was a son, a brother, a father, an uncle, a veteran, and a friend. Most importantly, he was someone who was deeply loved and whose presence would leave a hole in the hearts of those who knew him.
Ryan was born July 20th, 1988, in Butte, MT, in Silverbow County. He proudly served his country as a Marine in the Iraq war. His service was a reflection of his courage, strength, and dedication-- qualities that carried through every part of his life.
Following his military service, Ryan continued a life dedicated to service through his career with Montana State Prison, where he worked for more than 15 years. Over the course of his career, he built friendships, earned the respect of those he worked alongside, and became part of a close-knit community of coworkers and fellow correctional professionals. His years at the prison were an important part of his life, and the relationships he formed there extended far beyond the walls of his workplace.
Ryan found his greatest joy outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, and spending time in the mountains and open country. Whether he was on a trail, by friends, Ryan lived with an adventurous spirit and a deep appreciation for the simple things in life.
Above all, Ryan loved his family. His greatest legacy is found in the people who loved him and the memories they shared together.
Ryan leaves behind his two beautiful daughters, Kinley and Bailey Sharkey, who will forever carry their father's love in their hearts. He is also survived by his parents Thomas and Nancy Sharkey; his brother John Sharkey, his sister-in-law McCaela Sharkey; his nephew/godson Thomas Sharkey; his nieces Teagen and Taeler Sharkey.
Ryan also leaves behind his many beloved uncles, aunts, and cousins, along with extended family members who shared his life and loved him dearly. Each held a special place in his family, and together they carry countless memories of Ryan—from family gatherings and adventures to the ordinary moments that become some of the most treasured after someone is gone.
Ryan was preceded in death and welcomed home by his beloved grandparents William and Shirley Sharkey, Grandfather Cliff Gustavsen, his Brother-in-law Kaleb Frame, and his oldest daughter Irisa Sharkey whose memory remained close to his heart. Though their time apart has now ended, the love that connected them never faded.
To his family, Ryan was more than a name—he was a son, a father, a brother, an uncle, and a loyal friend. He was part of countless memories, adventures, laughs, and everyday moments that will now be treasured forever.
There will be times when his family sees a mountain trail, a quiet stream, a hunting camp, or a four-wheeler track and think of Ryan. In those moments, his spirit will feel close, reminding them that love does not end when life does.
Ryan lives through his daughters, his family, and many people whose lives he touched. His life was one of service, adventure, and love, and those gifts will continue through the memories he leaves behind.
The family of Ryan has decided to celebrate his life in private. At a later date his immediate family and close friends will be notified.
Ryan, you will never be forgotten.
Your family will carry you with them through every season, every hunt, every fishing trip, every trail, and every adventure. Your memory will live on in stories shared, lessons passed down, and in the hearts of all who loved you.
Rest easy Ryan Sharkey.
You served your country with honor, loved your family deeply, and lived life on your own terms.
You will always be loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
