In Loving Memory of Rose Marie Nye

Rose Marie Nye, of Butte, Montana, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026 at the age of 93, leaving behind five generations of family and a legacy of grace that will echo through time. She was born on March 1, 1933, in Butte to John and Ena Chatelle) Perusich, the fourth of eight children. Though small in physical stature, Rose carried within her a spirit that was immeasurable—a true matriarch who became the unwavering anchor of her family and a radiant reflection of faith to all who knew her.

She grew up and attended school in Butte before beginning work as a telephone operator, where she was recognized for a life-saving heroic effort—an early glimpse of the courage and compassion that would define her life. On October 27, 1953, she married the love of her life, Bruce Nye, and together they built a home rooted in love, faith, and devotion, raising four children: Bruce, Ed, Bob, and Sherry.

For more than nine decades, Rose embodied the heart of the Proverbs 31 woman. Known lovingly as "Grandma Rosie," she wore that name like a crown of honor. Whether she was tending to her home, preparing meals that gathered loved ones close, or caring for those around her, her hands were never idle and her heart was always open. Her life was marked by unwavering faith, trusting fully that God's plan was always perfect.

Rose was a woman of deep faith, walking closely with Jesus and inspiring others through her kindness, strength, and gentle spirit. Her faith was not only spoken—it was lived daily. She emphasized prayer and led by example in all she did, becoming a covering of strength and encouragement for generations. Even in moments of challenge, she would simply pray, "Jesus, help me," and move forward with quiet courage.

After the passing of her beloved husband, Rose's resilience shone brightly. She demonstrated remarkable independence, often fixing and arranging things herself, never losing her determination or her faith. She loved music and dancing, and she created a home that was warm, welcoming, and filled with joy.

Gifted with her hands, Rose expressed her love through sewing, crocheting, knitting, and embroidery. She served humbly, always giving of herself without seeking recognition. Her home became a joyful gathering place, especially for children, and her cooking—most famously her beloved soup—brought family together year after year. Even into her 80s, she remained the heart of the kitchen and the soul of family gatherings.

She is survived by her devoted children—Bruce (Annette), Ed (Gay Lynn), Bob (Mary Kay), and Sherry Clark; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; her sister-in-law Mary; and many nieces and nephews—all of whom rise up and call her blessed. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bruce; her son-in-law, Erwin Clark; her parents; and several siblings.

Rose Marie Nye will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her enduring strength, and the love she gave so freely. Though she has been ushered into the kingdom of heaven, her legacy lives on—in every prayer whispered, every meal shared, and every life she touched. Her story continues in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on April 09, 2026, in St. Ann Catholic Church in Butte, with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at St. Ann's Recreation Hall, 2100 Farragut Avenue.
