Rose Honora Kennedy (89) passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of February 18th and was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior and reunited with her loving husband of 67 years, Dan.

She was born in Butte on July 22, 1935, the fifth of six children to Frank and Dorothy Jones.  She attended local schools and graduated from Girls' Central in 1953.  After graduation, she worked as a telephone operator, teacher's aide for Head Start, and spent the rest of her working career in the billing department at St. James Hospital.  While working for the telephone company, she met the love of her life, Dan Kennedy. They were married on March 2, 1957 at Immaculate Conception Church.

Rose and Dan left Montana so Dan could take a job in Ohio and they welcomed their first child, Kathy.  After deciding Ohio was not the place for them, the family moved to Long Beach, California where Dan would take a job at McDonald Douglas Aircraft. While in Long Beach, the family would add two more children, another daughter, Eileen and a son, Daniel.  After several years in California, the desire to live closer to family brought them back to Butte. In Butte, the family was completed with the addition of two more daughters, Sherri and Colleen.  After returning home, she continued to raise their family of five children and care for her husband.  Rose was a devout Catholic, attending Mass daily, and was a member of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites.  If there was a Mass, Rose was probably there.  Her greatest accomplishment was raising her five children.

In retirement, she and Dan would enjoy camping and traveling in their new truck and fifth wheel.  The place Rose loved best was Glacier National Park where you may have seen her and Dan hiking the trails and spending time around the campfire.  She was preceded in death by her husband Dan Kennedy, daughter Colleen Kennedy, parents, Frank and Dorothy Jones; her siblings Phil Jones (passed at birth), Frankie Vandenberg, Elise Bennett, and Phil Jones.  She is survived by her loving children Kathy (Jerry) Kozak of Helena, Eileen (Dale) Dolloff of Butte, Dan (Jackie) Kennedy of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Sherri Kennedy of Butte; sister Mary Jo (Bob) Harrington of Albany, Oregon; brother-in-law Jack Kennedy and nephew John Kennedy, Great Falls; grandchildren Zachary Kozak of Helena; Czelsi-Kozak (Christian) Gomez of Pheonix, Arizona; Amber Mize of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Dr. Travis Mize of Indianapolis, Indiana; great grandchildren Bridger and Alirae Mize of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann Catholic Church on Friday, February 28th at 11:00.
