Ronald Eugene "Ron" Marshall, 67, formerly of Anaconda, Montana, passed away December 8th, 2019, in Butte, Montana, after a short battle with cancer. Ron was born November 19th, 1952 to Carlos & Teresa (Zeier) Marshall.

Ron grew up in Anaconda where he attended Catholic Schools, and graduated from Anaconda Senior High School in 1971. Ron met Susan McSloy and the two had their first daughter, Stephanie in 1978. They married in 1980 and shortly after moved to Arizona where Ron attended DeVry University, and graduated with a degree in electronics. After a few years away, they agreed that their hearts belonged in Montana, and in 1984 Ron took his family home where he remained throughout the rest of his life. In 1989, Ron and Susan were blessed with a second daughter, Regi. Ron worked as a guard at Montana State prison for 23 years until his retirement in 2014. One of the joys of Ron's life was the purchase of their home on Sunnyside in Anaconda, a home that he raised his girls in and remained in until his retirement, at which time he moved to Butte to be near his daughters, granddaughter, and brother. Ron loved his family completely and whole-heartedly his entire life.

From the time Ron was born, he spent countless hours with those he loved enjoying the outdoors. His dad taught him to love the outdoors; a passion he passed along to his younger brothers, his daughters, granddaughter, and his friends. As a kid, Ron could also be found playing baseball and practicing his accordion. Ron was happiest in the mountains. Each year, he anxiously awaited fall when he could hunt with his brothers Gary and Dale, and his daughter Regi and in later years, help Regi track down her first elk. He loved to hike, 4-wheel, and fish and told endless stories of trips in the mountains with his brothers and his buddies. Ron always had Stephanie and Regi camping and enjoying the outdoors, and loved taking his granddaughter Hannah on these adventures as well. He had a special love for Copper Creek Campground at Moose Lake, where he spent weeks each summer visiting with the camp host and enjoying his time around the fire. He and his family loved their trips to Yellowstone, Moose Lake, and seeing the players in Virginia City. In recent summers, in addition to camping and fishing with Stephanie, Hannah, Regi and Len, Ron spent his days on the golf course perfecting his golf game with his buddies, having weekly dinners with his girls, and seeing movies with Stephanie at the theater. Ron loved his annual trips to Jackpot, reading Stephen King novels, bowling, ice fishing, and cheering on his beloved Yankees. He had a fascination with aliens and could often be heard pondering the existence of Bigfoot as we all sat around the fire together.

Ron is survived by his daughters Stephanie Marshall (Todd Hoar), Regi (Len) Hoar, granddaughter Hannah Young, brothers Gary Marshall and Dale Marshall, sister Carla Marshall, several nieces, and countless cousins, as well as lifelong friend John Pakka, and good friend Jimmy Daly. Ron was preceded in death by his grandparents Ed and Fran Zeier, parents, Carlos and Teresa Marshall, and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Services for Ron will be held this Saturday, December 14th, at 11:00 am at Duggan Dolan Mortuary, 1805 Meadowlark Lane in Butte. A reception will be held following services.
