Ron Otto Ygnatowiz, "Iggy", passed away on March 21, 2022, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Ron was one of six children born to Peter and Rose Ygnatowiz and lived his entire life in Butte, America. He sold newspapers in Uptown Butte at an early age to earn money while in school, and his solid work ethic began to form. He was a well-known boxer in his youth and later coached the sport at Butte High and Montana Tech, along with his brother and good friend, Billy. Ron graduated from Butte High School and later married Patsy Turner, and together they raised their son, Shawn, and daughter, Ronda. Ron was very proud of his Ronda and Shawn.

Ron worked at various jobs, and later was employed at Stauffer Chemical. After he left Stauffer, he began his last career legacy as a Business Agent for the Teamsters Local No 2. This position truly suited Ron. He had the gifted expertise, temperament and savvy, as well as being a well-respected member of the business community, and most importantly he truly cared about the people he served. He retired from the Teamsters and looked forward to having the time to pursue the things he loved, and expanding his Christmas card list. In retirement Ron enjoyed travel, socializing with his many friends, volunteering around Butte, painting The Depot (again and again), and tinkering about on his property at Georgetown Lake. He loved spending time at the lake enjoying the quiet beauty and pontificating to guests around the firepit. Ron was a straight-up 'Butte guy', you knew where you stood. He had many friends and acquaintances both from Butte and his travels to California visiting his sister Joyce and her family, his brother Pete and his family. Spending time with Ron was always something to look forward to…he brought the blender and his drink caddy, and the stories. Ron loved to reminisce over fun and hilarious past adventures, and soon out came the Walter Brennan impersonation (truly one of the best around). Ron could always be counted on for organizing gatherings, and friends will fondly remember the annual visits to Coeur d'Alene over many Labor Day weekends. If the night was right, to everyone's surprise, Ron would sing a melody. He had a beautiful voice. Ron was a serious, but thoughtful man, and his charity and generosity were given freely to so many, including Ron's friend and pal, Axton Duddy. They became buddies and Ron took pride in helping Axton and his family and they spent many memorable times together.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Ronda, brothers Norman, Dennis, Billy, sister Joyce, and ex-wife Patsy. He is survived by his son Shawn and his wife Janet, granddaughters Josie and Callie Ygnatowiz, and Ciara Silvestri, great granddaughter Evry Silvestri Ygnatowiz, brother Peter, sister-in-law Jeri Ygnatowiz, brother-in-law Denny Glass, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Ron, you have left a huge void in our hearts, but you will remain forever in our thoughts and memories. Fly high and "see ya' later alligator"!

A memorial service will be held on June 11 at Duggan Dolan Funeral home at 10 am. Thereafter, the family welcomes friends for a reception and celebration of Ron' s life at the McQueen Athletic Club from 12:00-3:00pm.
