Mr. Robert Joseph Spear passed away on Sunday, January 07, 2024 at Continental Care Health and Rehabilitation Center in Butte, Montana.  Bob was born on March 08, 1930 in Butte, the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Spear.

Bob attended Holy Savior Parochial School, located in the McQueen Edition, and graduated from Boys Central High School.  He was employed by the ACM (Anaconda Copper Mining Company) where he worked underground with his dad.  He later served his apprenticeship as a brick mason, a trade at which he was highly skilled.  Over the years, he constructed many local buildings and homes.  He also worked at Nabisco and Sutey Oil.  After retiring, Bob worked with his friends at Duggan Dolan Mortuary, where he assisted families during visitations and helped out during funerals.  He was instrumental in forming Holy Spirit Catholic Church and even assisted with the building of the Church.  He was an active member and served as first president of the Holy Spirit Parish Council.  His efforts helped to insure the growth and success of the Parish.  He was also active, as a coach, in little league baseball.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Matt and Ann Panyon; sister and brother-in-law, Roberta and Dwain Kennis; brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Arlene Spear; and in-laws, John and Rosemarie Yelsa, Pauline Anderson, Bill Stefanich, and Martin and Jule Stefanich; nieces, Carol Cote and Marianne Yelsa, and numerous other cherished family and friends.  He is survived by his wife, Esther; son, Rob (Sandy) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughter, Jonel (Kevin) of South Jordan, Utah; granddaughter, Morgan; great granddaughter, Payton; and grandsons, Zachary and Nick.  He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Patsy Counts, Ron Kriskovich, Judy (Don) Hawkinson, and numerous other family members.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on March 08, 2024 at 11:00 am in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
