The most gentle, kind, and considerate soul now rests in heaven. Raymond Michael Coyne passed away peacefully on May 21, 2022. He was born in Butte on August 3, 1932, to Eleanor (Franks) and Raymond P. Coyne. He attended St. Ann's Catholic Grade School and graduated from Butte Central High School.

Raymond married Delia Piazzola of Whitehall on August 11, 1956, and together they raised five daughters and celebrated the arrival of ten grandchildren and six great-granddaughters. They look forward to another great-grandchild within the year.

Ray developed hard-working values at an early age and talked about working as a pin setter at a local bowling alley as a youngster. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U. S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He earned several Medals and Honors. He worked as an Operating Engineer for Butte Silver Bow County from 1959 to 1993. Many say, mostly his family, "there hasn't been a road in Butte paved as well since Ray retired." He also contributed to beautifying Uptown Butte by removing old, dilapidated buildings.

Family was always a priority for Ray. He was his daughters' and grandchildren's biggest fan attending as many events as he could. Family would say nobody could tease and make you giggle like him. His smile and laugh were contagious. Ray had a passion for woodworking and created many amazing items including toy chests, furniture, shelves, and yard ornaments. He lovingly carved a heart in every piece he made. He and his girls loved camping at many lakes around Montana. He enjoyed bowling in various leagues in Butte and Whitehall. If anyone was ever in need, Ray was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, Lawrence and Nora Piazzola, his beloved daughter Lori Taylor, brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Dorothy Coyne, brother Patrick Coyne, brother-in-law, John Sullivan, and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Harold and Betty Piazzola, Mary Alice and Cecil Hoeme, and Jack Piazzola.

He is survived by his wife Delia, his daughters and sons-in-law, Raeleen and Frank Harvey, Jeff Taylor, Michele and Jeff Davis, Jodi and Rick Gelling, and Mary Beth and Larry Casazza. Surviving are his brother and sister-in-law, Don and Shirley Coyne, sisters- and brothers-in-law, Colleen and JD Tucker, Joann Coyne, Joan Sullivan, and Marilyn and Chuck Goforth. Brothers- and sisters-in-law, Hank and Lynne Piazzola, Sandy Piazzola, and Dan and Diane Piazzola. Grandchildren, Cory (Michelle) Harvey, Derek (Kayla) Harvey, Marissa Harvey (Shaun Villa), Brandi Taylor, Mat Davis, Courtney Davis, Nate Gelling (Teal Joy), Kira (Tony) Kindt, Rebecca Casazza (Logan Flegel), and Katherine (Caleb) Fleury. Great grandchildren, Brooklinn, Karly and Aislin Kindt, Aubrey Davis, Josie and Nora Harvey, Billy, and Liberty. And many nieces and nephews.

Raymond was a long-time, active parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Parish.  Parish Vigil will be recited on Wednesday, June 01, 2022, at 6:00 PM in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  Friends may call on Thursday, June 02, 2022, after 10:00 am in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am.  Rite of Committal will follow at Sunset Memorial Park near Fairmont. A reception will be held immediately after.
