Nancy Shea Hogart's nearly two-year courageous battle with cancer came to a peaceful end on Monday, September 1, 2025, with her beloved husband Tim and daughter Andrea by her side. Her devoted son-in-law Tim Lambert and cherished granddaughter Elle were nearby, ensuring she was embraced by the love that had always defined her life. In those final moments, Nancy found the serenity she deserved.

Born June 8, 1951, to Emmet "Bub" and Ruth (Doble) Shea, Nancy was raised among dozens of cousins and often reminisced about huge family picnics at the reservoir or piling into someone's car for spontaneous adventures—off to whatever escapade awaited them next. Nancy attended Saint Lawrence School and Butte Central, where her spirit first began to shine. It was there her path crossed with Tim's, and in 1973, they celebrated their union with a wedding that perfectly captured the joy and freedom of the era. Laughter echoed through the celebration, exuberant dancing filled the floor, and Nancy was radiant with her long straight hair and bouquets of daisies—a perfect embodiment of 1970s romance and hope.

In 1977, their greatest adventure began with the arrival of Andrea, completing their family of three and filling their home with a new kind of joy that would define the rest of Nancy's days.

Nancy's love for Tim and Andrea ran deep and true, forming the foundation of everything she did. Her gifts weren't found in traditional hobbies, but in her natural ability to transform the ordinary into something special. From childhood, when she came home from school each day to start dinner for her family, Nancy understood that love was served alongside every meal.

This dedication continued throughout her life as she made dinner every night after work, a ritual that became the cornerstone of their family life. She had an extraordinary talent for turning simple Sunday meals into unforgettable feasts and arranging the most ordinary items into beautifully set tables that made every day feel like an occasion. Nancy elevated the everyday into something memorable.

Her kitchen was the heart of their home, where she created beauty and comfort from the simplest everyday elements, and where countless conversations, celebrations, and quiet moments unfolded around her lovingly prepared meals.

Nancy spent her career serving in the County Superintendent of Schools Office at the Butte Silver Bow Courthouse, a building she genuinely loved and where she cultivated lifelong friendships that brought her immense joy. She would often amuse family with stories of the silly times, fun moments, and fond memories she shared with her courthouse family, friendships that enriched her life for decades. Nancy became actively involved with her union and proudly worked for what was best for her colleagues.

Nancy and Tim cherished their summers at Kim's Marina, where they created treasured memories with close friends Terry and Carol Heneghan and made many new friends. They also enjoyed their trips to the Oregon coast with family and friends. The coast held special meaning for Nancy, and they spent countless days there walking along the sandy shore, playing in the waves, and collecting every beautiful shell they could find.

An avid reader throughout her life, she could devour a book in a few short days. But lately she had become something of a news junkie, and if you knew her, you know exactly what that means. She'd happily discuss the events of the day and her opinion on them. She stayed informed, engaged, and passionate about what was right.

Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, Tim; daughter, Andrea; her strong and supportive son-in-law, Tim Lambert; and cherished granddaughter Elle. She is also survived by her brother Ed (Donna) and nieces Amy Shea and Sydni Shea, as well as her nephew Tristan (Danielle) Shea. The family is forever grateful for Nancy's lifelong friendship with Carol Heneghan, whose unwavering support and devotion to Nancy and her family has been a source of comfort and strength, even as Carol grieves the loss of her dear friend.

Nancy is preceded in death by her father Emmet "Bub" Shea, mother Ruth Doble Shea, sister Marlene Shea, mother-in-law Helen Hogart, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Jack, Bill and Mary Carol, and Dan Hogart, and multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, which include her special niece, Pam Hogart..

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, from 4-6 PM at St. Ann's Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 13, at 11:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church.
