Michelle Marie Vincent of Butte, Montana, passed peacefully on July 3, 2025, at the age of 74. She was born at her parents' home on 61 West Center Street — a home that would later be fondly known to the family as Grandma Marcella's house. Michelle was the daughter of Thomas Vincent, a miner with English roots, and Marcella (DeBerti) Vincent, a devoted homemaker with strong Italian heritage. From her very first breath, Michelle was surrounded by strong roots, good food, and deep family traditions.

She earned her teaching degree from Western Montana College in Dillon and spent several years teaching in Dutton before returning to Butte. Michelle later earned her bachelor's degree from Montana Tech of the University of Montana and returned to campus as an educator, where she shared both her knowledge and her no-nonsense wisdom with students and colleagues. She also served her community for many years at the Job Service, where her steady presence and quiet kindness left a lasting mark.

Michelle was a woman who didn't just walk into a room — she arrived. She was sharp, straightforward, and never afraid to speak her mind, but beneath that signature sass was a deeply loyal and generous heart. If she teased you, it meant she loved you. And if she loved you, you could count on her forever.

Her kitchen was the heart of every holiday and celebration. Known for her homemade ravioli, gnocchi, lasagna, and the perfect Shirley Temple (with just the right amount of cherry juice), Michelle never came to a gathering empty-handed — and never brought a dish in anything but her treasured family serveware. Whether it belonged to her, her mother, or one of her sisters, every casserole dish told a story.

As the family grew, Michelle gracefully passed on the role of hostess to her nieces and nephews and their families, encouraging them to carry on the traditions she helped build — from holiday dinners to handmade pasta. But make no mistake — she was still the first to arrive, the last to leave, and the one gently (or not-so-gently) suggesting how things could be done just a little bit better.

She loved ceramics, finding peace in the process of shaping and painting each piece. She adored her little dogs, who were rarely more than a few steps away.

Michelle cherished the lifelong friendships that brought her so much laughter, support, and joy. Her circle of friends — Peggy, Kim, Sherri, Gayle, Loralee, Cathy, and Ellie — were more than companions; they were chosen sisters who stood beside her through every season of life. Whether they were gathering for coffee, solving the world's problems over the phone, or supporting one another through life's challenges, Michelle found constant strength and comfort in their love. These women were her sounding board, her partners in sass and sarcasm, her cheerleaders, and her soft place to land. Their bond was built on honesty, loyalty, and belly laughs — the kind that leave your eyes watering and your soul lighter.

Michelle was a proud member of Kiwanis and found special joy serving as camp cook each summer, keeping everyone fed, loved, and just a little bit spoiled.

She was raised Catholic and remained quietly connected to her faith, finding peace in her beliefs even if she didn't sit in a pew every Sunday. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now resting peacefully in the arms of the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Marcella Vincent and siblings, Elizabeth Klemp of Butte and David Vincent of California. Though she never had children of her own, Michelle poured her love generously into the lives of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-greats, treating each one like her own.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Duggan Dolan Mortuary, 1805 Meadowlark Lane, Butte, Montana. A reception will follow at 51 Below, located at 51 West Park Street, where family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and celebrate Michelle's life with food, laughter, and love — just the way she would have wanted.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Pintler Pets or the Chelsea Bailey Animal Shelter, two organizations close to Michelle's heart.

To carry Michelle's memory forward, bake a favorite dish and share it with someone you love. Bonus points if it's lasagna or served in a timeworn family casserole dish. Even more if it comes with a story.

And when the fireworks light up the sky next year — especially on July 3rd — look up. We're sure she's watching too, just from a better seat.
