Mr. Michael Wayne Lapier passed away on Wednesday at Community Hospital in Missoula, Montana. He left this world with the love of his family, whom he held closest to his heart. Mike was born on June 07, 1964 in Butte, Montana, the son of Lyle S, and Barbara A. (Bouley) Lapier.

Mike was educated at Emerson Grade School and graduated from Butte High School. After school, Mike heeded the call of the open road; not only living, but loving, life as a long haul truck driver.

He married Shelia Greene. They were blessed with a daughter, Stephanie. They later divorced and, though they were no longer husband and wife, they remained close friends. He later married Heather R. Hackman. Together, they where blessed by the birth of their daughter, Serenity.

Those who were lucky enough to be Mike's friends knew he was a mountain of a man, with an exterior as tough as steel, and a heart of the purest gold. He loved his Harley and spent endless happy hours riding with his companions in the Banditos Motorcycle Club, of which he was a respected member for more that 9 years. He often would trade two wheels for four; spending happy summers fishing and hunting, or just enjoying riding through the mountains. As a member of the Alano Club, this gentle giant devoted countless hours to helping people get sober and live a healthy, fulfilling, life. Mike had a deep belief in God. He was a devout Catholic with a commitment to, not just saying he was Christian, but putting his love for Christ in to his actions, not just his words. He was always willing to help anytime, anywhere, with anything; no matter how monumental the task. Above all, Mike loving spending time with his precious daughters, swimming or watching movies, or just being together.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by Heather Hackman-Lapier; his daughters and son-in-law, Stephanie and James Garrett, and Serenity Lapier; his stepchild, whom he loved as if they were his own, Carl and Josh Greene, Aric Lewis, and Hope Hackman; his sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Sean Reich; and his niece and nephew, Erica Young and Joshua Lapier. He is also survive by his former wife, and friend, Sheila Smith; his Uncle, who was like a father to Mike following his father's untimely death, Ben; and Aunt, Carol Bouley; and his cousins, Ben, Brian, and Michelle Bouley..

Friends are asked to join the family on Wednesday after 10:00 am in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am with Rite of Committal to follow in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
