Mary McGree Hanley passed away Friday, June 27, 2025, Feast of the Sacred Heart, in Butte. She was born in Butte on December 26, 1931, to Thomas and Lucy (Rock) McGree.

Mary received her education at St. Joseph's grade school and Girls Central High School.  She also attended University of Montana, in Missoula, before graduating from Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Spokane, WA.

Mary married Leo M. Hanley at Sacred Heart Church, in Butte, on April 16, 1955. She worked at Casebeer Eye Clinic, Silver Bow General Hospital and Rocky Mountain Clinic.

Mary was preceded in death by her mom and dad; husband, Leo; son, Kevin; brothers and sister; Tom, Frank, and Etta; and infant brother, Bill,. She is survived by her children, Marietta, Meg, Mike, Richard, Paul, and their families; as well as, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all her dear nieces and nephews, great and grand … you've been that!

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, July 8th, after 10 am at St. Patrick's Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am in the Church. Internment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to the Butte Rescue Mission.
