Mary Penelope Creech passed away early in the morning on Monday, September 29, 2025 at the Fort Harrison Veterans Hospital in Helena, Montana.  Mary was born on January 22, 1943 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Claude Rollins and Maria Concepcion (Brown) Curtis.

Mary was educated in Fort Madison, Iowa.  In 1963, Mary enlisted in the United States Army, thus began a lifelong military career.  Mary retired from the military having achieved the rank of CW4, at the time the highest rank that could be achieved by a Non-commissioned Officer.  For her years of devoted service to her Country, she was awarded the Legion of Merit, which is awarded for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service.

Always active, Mary enjoyed the comradery she found as a member of the Disable American Veterans, the American Legion, and the United Veterans Council.  As artistic as she was driven, Mary was a talented painter and enjoyed creating pottery.   She was also a member of the Butte – Silver Bow Arts Council and loved a spirited game of Pinochle.  Mary's life revolved around family, friends, and faith.A devout Catholic, she was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Nancy Wilson and Gwendolyn Mansheim.  She is survived by her daughters, Mary "Rita" Miller and Mariah McAlister; her son, Johnathan Creech; and her grandchildren, Heather (Nick) Miller, Brandon Miller, Ashley Creech, Sean McAlister, Angela McAlister, and Emma Ament.  She is also survived by her great-grandsons, Jack Miller and Milo McAllister; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Thursday after 10:00 am in the Duggan Dolan Mortuary Chapel.  Funeral Services will be celebrated at 11:00 am.  Military Honors and Rite of Committal will be held at Fort Harrison Veterans Cemetery, in Helena, Montana, at 3:00 PM.
