Mark A. Berg

Age 68

Mark Berg passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2022. Mark was born on November 15, 1953 in Butte to Jerry and Elizabeth Ann Marie (Betty) Daly Berg. Mark was proud of his Butte heritage.

Mark graduated from Butte Central in 1972. Mark attended Western Montana College and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education with a Math emphasis in 1984. In 1993 he received his Master's Degree in Education from Montana State University.

Mark married the love of his life, Mary Jule Hubley on June 12, 1982 at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church. Mark was a family man and most proud of their children, Jen Berg and Matt Berg and all of their academic, extra- curricular, and employment accomplishments. Mark and Mary enjoyed following, supporting and watching their children in dance recitals and sporting events throughout the years.

Mark was a Math Teacher for Butte School District #1 for 30 years and retired in 2014. He enjoyed his teaching experience and his retirement. He also served as Butte Teachers Union #332 Business Agent for 8 years and enjoyed working with all teachers and clerks in the Butte School District. Mark was always there to assist younger teachers and worked hard to ensure that all teachers received equal benefits.

Mark also painted houses with his brother Gary in the summer months when he was not teaching. Mark also assisted in coaching Little Guy Football and Mile High baseball teams. He was a member of the Butte Elks Lodge #240 for over 35 years. He enjoyed talking and interacting with people and he enjoyed his Miller Lite with a glass on the patio. His quick wit and infectious sense of humor will be missed by all.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents Jerry and Betty Berg, his brother Walter and sisters-in-law Carol and Jill Berg, aunt, Jennie Satterthwaite, father-in-law and mother-in-law Jule and Marie Hubley, and family member, Frances Manuell.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Mary, his daughter Jen and his son Matt Berg (Jesica); brothers Jack Berg and Gary Berg (Maddie), Butte; brothers-in-law and sisters in law, Bernie and Kathy Hubley, Helena, John and Becky Hubley, Missoula, cousins, Tom and Linda Satterthwaite; dear friends, Jim (his "Birthday Buddy") and Carolyn Fogerty; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Friday, July 29 at Duggan Dolan Mortuary with visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Services beginning at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Butte Food Bank ort Butte Central Education Fund.
