Margaret "Peggy" O'Neill Dennehy, 59, died Sunday morning at home, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with brain and lung cancer. Peggy was born in Butte, June 19, 1960, the third of five children born to Bridget Kirwan and Ray O'Neill. She attended Kennedy grade school and Butte High School, graduating in 1978. Upon graduation, she trained as a phlebotomist and soon thereafter went to work for United Blood Services, where she made her career.

Peggy married Daniel Thomas "Dan" Dennehy on Saturday, September 5, 1987, and together they raised one son, Brenden. They recently celebrated their 32 ^nd wedding anniversary.

From her initial diagnosis at age 52, Peggy battled cancer with never-ending prayers, perseverance, and positive thoughts, alongside Dan, her advocate and guardian angel every step of the journey. For seven years, together they enjoyed life and family, and every time cancer closed a door, they found an open window. Peggy loved floating, fishing, and enjoying time with family and friends, continuing to "do" every day, always with a smile and kind words for those lucky enough to cross her path. She lived graciously and courageously to the end. Peggy didn't lose to cancer; she died, peacefully, and on her own terms.

She is survived by her husband Dan; son Brenden and granddaughter Vivian of Bozeman; her mother, Bridget O'Neill; brothers and sisters-in-law, Chris and Sheila and Ed and Joanie, brother Bernie, and sister Kathy O'Neill, all of Butte. She is also survived by Dan's brothers and sisters-in-law, John Mike and Jean Dennehy of Butte, Bernie and Debbie Dennehy of Seattle, Kevin and Liza Dennehy of Butte; and Dan's sister and brother-in-law, Mary Kay and Len LeVeaux of Butte; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by her father, Ray O'Neill, and her mother and father-in-law, Ruth and Bernie Dennehy.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening, February 26 ^th , from 6-7 p.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic Church with vigil service and holy rosary to start at 7 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 27 ^th , at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Patrick Beretta officiating. Cremation has taken place. Entombment of the ashes will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery Columbarium.
