Lucy Chun died September 25, 2025 at BeeHive Homes in Butte, Montana.

Lucy was born June 3, 1933 in Cardwell, Montana. The family later moved to Whitehall,
Montana where Lucy and her mother, Sunny Chun operated a 78 acre truck farm. She
attended Whitehall schools and when old enough she began delivering vegetables to
various warehouses including Safeway in Butte.

While working on the farm the family often entertained Korean families from around the
state, local workers and friends. Lucy would spend days preparing meals of both
Korean and American delicacies. She would often talk about planning ahead and
freezing food to have enough for everyone to enjoyAfter her mother passed away Lucy began expanding her interests. She worked at
Montana Power Company, now Northwestern Energy, starting as a meter reader and
later as an office worker. A friend, Chuck Larsen, went into co-ownership with her at
Greene's Grocery, a local Whitehall market.

When her job moved to Butte she did too. She retired from farming and Montana Power
and bought a home in Butte. Even in retirement she stayed busy, volunteering for Rocky
Mountain Senior Companions helping seniors in assisted living with errands, getting to
the YMCA, medical appointments and just being a companion friend.
Although words cannot capture the full measure of her life, what she leaves behind is
clear; a legacy of kindness, compassion and quiet strength. She was known throughout
her community as someone who gave without expectation. Whether through her faith at
Church, a dedication to her senior companions, or simple acts of generosity that made
others feel seen and cared for she touched the lives of many people. Her door and her
heart were always open.

As her grandson stated, "Many, including myself, found solace in her incredibly
supportive demeanor and her aversion to judgment. My grandmother spoke only
through action and the impact of her actions reflect fondly and everlastingly in the many
hearts she touched. She believed kindness was a way of life, loved family, friends, and
neighbors with an equality that I can only one day hope to emulate. The loves shared
will continue to ripple outward, living on in those who were fortunate enough to know
her."

However, she eventually needed assistance of her own because of the condition of
dementia. She was greatly helped by wonderful in home caregivers and later the staff at
Beehive Homes in Butte.

Though she will be deeply missed, she will be remembered with gratitude and love. Her
spirit remains in every gesture of compassion she show and in every ,o,et we choose to
love without condition.

Lucy had a fondness for Pizza Ranch fried chicken, Perkins pancakes and Rice Crispy
treats. She could eat an entire box of Rice Crispy treats at a single serving.

She is survived by her son, Terry Chung; grandson Sebastian Chung (wife Avery); and
niece Kasey Congleton. She will be remembered by long time friends Chuck Larsen,
Hee Hong and wife Sonny, Anne Miller and numerous friends and neighbors.

Friends may call on Thursday, October 09, 2025, after 1:00 PM in the Duggan Dolan Mortuary Chapel.  Funeral Services will be celebrated at 2:00 PM.
