Lorrie Jo Altena Spear, born November 12, 1953, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Lorrie was born on November 12, 1953, in Wapato (Yakima), Washington, to John and Arlene Altena. She was the second of four children. She grew up on a ranch, where she developed a lifelong love of animals, spending her youth riding horses and helping tend to the family's livestock. She also enjoyed showing her shorthorn cattle at the fair. In high school, she played the clarinet and graduated from West Valley High School in Yakima.

After high school, Lorrie met the love of her life, William Spear Jr., while working at K-Mart. They were married on November 13, 1976, and soon after made their home in Butte, Montana. Together, Lorrie and William took over Town Talk Bakery, where Lorrie worked for many years before retiring in the early 2000s.

Lorrie enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends in Washington, including Yakima, Spokane, and Pasco, and cherished trips to California to visit her son in Bakersfield. She loved adventure and the outdoors, including hiking and swimming, and especially enjoyed playing games with her family. Her passions also included shopping, watching movies, reading, and following everything related to the royal family.

Lorrie and William were blessed with four children: William Spear III (Kristen), John Spear (Maricela), Stephanie Fortune (Mike), and Mary Spear. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: William Spear IV, Carter Rey Spear, Annabelle Fortune, Madelynn Fortune, Jackson Fortune, and Noah Clough.

Lorrie is survived by her husband, William Spear Jr.; her children and grandchildren; her sisters, Lynn McDaniel and Sherry Gosseen; her brother, Bill Altena; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held Friday January 16th at the Duggan Dolan Chapel, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and the service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
