Linda Karen (Knight) Scott, 76, passed away early Monday March 6, 2023, at St. James Intermountain Healthcare, surrounded by her children. After a lifetime in which she served many roles, Linda graduated to that one she always aspired to, our guardian angel. She passed away from complications with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, of which she battled for many years.

She was born on December 23, 1946, to Lynn & Berniece Knight, in Butte, Montana where she resided all her life. She was the only sister to brothers Ralph, Ray, & Ron.

Linda attended Blaine Elementary, East Jr. High & Butte High School. She first met William "Bill" "Scotty" Scott in Jr. High and the two were smitten, with Linda writing in Bill's high school yearbook, "You are my first love". The two were married on Valentine's Day in 1963, and remained married until Bill's passing last September, a union spanning nearly sixty years.

She spent most of her working days with the Butte School District in service to the children of Butte, working in Special Education starting 1978 at Longfellow, then Emerson Elementary before moving on to a lengthy tenure as the Librarian for Hillcrest Elementary, and as a Title 1 advocate for students at East Middle School and finally Butte High School, from where she retired in 2008.

Linda was truly gifted in her kitchen, and anyone who knew her has a memory enjoying something she made. Her home-cooked meals were delicious, and her kids and grandkids always appreciated the leftovers. Butte will remember Linda for her cakes and candies. Generations of locals enjoyed hand-decorated cakes for birthdays, graduations & weddings.  Her frosting was unlike any other and she often had requests just for that.  Homemade candies: fudge, divinity, penuche, etc. at Christmas were popular and her blarney stones for St. Patrick's Day.

She was her children and grandchildren's number one supporter.  She always supported them in any way she could and never missed an event.

If you asked her, Linda would always lend a helping hand. She was a member of the Centerville VFD Ladies Auxiliary, past Treasurer for Butte School District Teacher's Union and a past Worthy Matron of Ruth Chapter #2 Order of Eastern Star.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, brother Ray Knight, nephews Troy Knight & Brian Scott, & son in law Randy Guegel.

Linda is survived by her daughter Rose Guegel, son Dave Scott, grand children Nick Scott, Brianne Scott, Shawnee (Cory) Jones, Shalyn Guegel, great grandson Liam Jones, brothers Ralph Knight & Ron Knight, brothers in law Darryl Scott & Tom (Marge) Scott and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alberts Angel Fund or local charity of choice.
