Lenore Belle (Limb) Tahija passed away on January 1, 2025, at home surrounded by family.  She had just celebrated her 90th birthday.  She was affectionately known as "Nora" to her siblings and many nieces and nephews.

She was born on December 19, 1934, in Ogden, Utah to Glenn and Hannah Lenore (Beesley) Limb.  Her family moved to Butte when she was 2 years old after spending time in Whitehall where her youngest sister "Cookie" was born. They lived a short time on Grand Ave before moving to their house in the "Boulevard" area of Butte.

Mom always talked fondly of her time growing up on the Boulevard. She spoke of how they would celebrate Halloween by knocking on doors for a week before the actual day. There are also many stories of her and her friends trapsing through town, sneaking into the Holland Rink, celebrating Bohunkus Days, and going to the movies. She maintained many of those friendships throughout her life.

Lenore attended Webster Garfield in her early years and went to Butte High School where she graduated in 1953.  She started working at the local theaters when she was 15. At Butte High she excelled in their business program, and her teacher recommended her for a job at the Butte Courthouse.  After that she got a job working at Texaco where she was a file clerk.  She worked at Texaco until she was married to Richard "Dick" Tahija on June 11, 1960.

She and her husband Dick had 3 children together, Lynette, Sandy, and Joe. They purchased a home in the Floral Park area in 1968 where they raised their family and lived throughout the rest of their lives.

Lenore was a loving and loyal wife, but she was most proud of her role as a mother and grandmother. She cherished the fact she became a great grandmother to Elora Belle and Millie Jean. She was known for her letters, cards, phone calls, remembering birthdays, and keeping in touch with all family, including her relatives in Utah.

Lenore was involved in many organizations throughout her life and was always supportive of her family's endeavors. She was very active with the Butte County Club Women's Golf Association.  She was always generous in volunteering her time.  She assisted many elderly folks over the years with shopping and anything else they needed.  She and Dick hosted many speedskaters in their home during their training and competitions at the Butte High Altitude Sports Center.

Lenore was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; her parents; sisters, MaryAnne (Bill), Cookie (George); brothers Rulon, John (Jean), and her son-in-law, Larry.

Mom is survived by daughters, Lynette, Sandy (Jay) Schnebly, and son Joseph. Her grandchildren Lilly (Nate) McLallin and Joe.  Also, surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-laws Dale Tahija, Dave Tahija, Dan Tahija (Theresa) and sister in law Debbie (Roy) Morris. Lenore was the only one remaining of her siblings.

After Dick passed away Lenore thrived in her independence and was able to visit her children in Florida, Washington, and California. She enjoyed frequenting the local casinos (nickel keno) and went to the YMCA to exercise and keep up her health. The local people of Butte were always great to Lenore, and she enjoyed running into and visiting people as she went about her day. "There's no place like home" was one of her favorite phrases and no matter where she traveled, she was always anxious to get back to Butte. We will all miss her quirky stories and philosophical quips.

Services will be held at Duggan Dolan Mortuary on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 1:00 pm.  Memorials may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
