Kathy (Caldwell) Kichnet, 66, passed away on April 2, 2026, in Billings, Montana. She was born on October 8, 1959, in Murray, Utah, to Arthur and Evelyn Caldwell, and spent much of her life in Butte, Montana, where she built a life centered on hard work, faith, family, and kindness.

Kathy was known for her strong work ethic and friendly spirit. She spent 19 years waitressing at Ray's Place, where she became a familiar and welcoming face to many. She later worked for over 20 years at Montana Tech, where she met her husband, Mark. Most recently, she served as a caregiver, continuing her lifelong dedication to helping others.

Kathy attended Journey Church, where her faith and sense of community were important parts of her life. She had a gift for making others feel welcome and was truly one of the friendliest people anyone could meet. She found great joy in celebrating holidays with her family, often baking countless batches of cookies and fudge to share with loved ones and friends. She loved camping, spending time with family, and enjoying life's simple pleasures—like her favorite Idaho Spud candy bar and watching her favorite TV shows. She was also a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Utah Jazz, always cheering them on.

She is survived by her loving husband, Mark South; her former husband, Robert Kichnet; her sons, Chris (Kellee) Kichnet and Kevin (Jennifer Nemec) Kichnet; her cherished granddaughter, Breanna Kichnet; her siblings, Jerry (Linda) Caldwell; Lorraine (Carson) Hodges; Tracy (Tascha) Caldwell; Mark (Theresa) Caldwell; Jennifer Domer; Robbi Keith; and Bonnie (Mike) Brown; along with many extended family memnbers and friends who will deeply miss her.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Evelyn Caldwell and Frank and Cathy Whetstone; her nephews, J.W. Hodges, Chad Caldwell, Josh Caldwell, and Nicolas Caldwell; her niece, Eternity Hamberg; and her brothers-in-law, Patrick Keith and Brian Domer.

Funeral services will be held on April 15, 2026, at 11:00 am in the Journey Church, located at 2055 Florence Ave., in Butte, Montana, with a meal to follow the celebration of life.
