Kathryn Ann (Sheehy) Lovell passed away April 26, 2025 at her home. Kathy was born September 16, 1948 in Butte, Montana to Joe and Frances (Boyle) Sheehy.

Kathy grew up in Butte attending St. Mary's Elementary and graduating from what was then Girls Central High in 1966.

Kathy attended college at St. Mary College in Leavenworth, Kansas for two years. She then transferred to Western Montana College in Dillon where she earned her B.S. in Elementary Education. While attending Western, Kathy was honored with membership in Who's Who among college students. Later Kathy would receive her Master's in Education from Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Kathy's entire teaching career was spent in Butte.  She taught at many schools and various grades and excelled wherever she taught.

In 1982 Kathy married Bill Lovell at St. Mary's Church.

Kathy and Bill weren't blessed with children of their own, but they were surrogate parents to many lucky youngsters. The "Lovell Lodge" became a home away from home for all their nieces and nephews and neighborhood kids.  Kathy hosted "Cousins' Camp" every year. It was a week for all fourteen cousins to be together and was filled with adventure, laughter, education, and love.

Kathy's Catholic faith remained steadfast throughout her life. She served as a lector and CCD teacher for many years and was an Associate of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth.

Kathy and Bill had a spirit of fun and adventure.  From co-piloting their Model T in parades to wonderful vacations including several with her brother Frank and his kids.

Kathy loved Butte and if there was something happening in Butte, Kathy and Bill were there.

In retirement Kathy enjoyed playing bridge and made many good friends there.

Kathy was a warm and radiant energy to be around.  She filled us with a sense of acceptance and love, as if just existing were enough.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband Bill, siblings Jim (Claudia) Sheehy and their children Lisa (Bill) Martin and Susan (Sam) Osborne, Marlene (Eric) Mainard and son Ryan, Mary Jo  (Phil) Aschim and their children Callie (Shad Zinda) and Nate (Alex), Mike (Julie Tranmer) Sheehy and children Bridget and Zach, Connie (Paul) Brox and children Sheena, Jennifer, and Jeff Rice, and Frank Sheehy and children Jesse (Stephanie), Drew (Kristin Cole) and Kelly. And numerous great nieces and nephews all of whom held a special place in Kathy's heart.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Fran Sheehy and by her niece Katie Aschim.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 30 at 5:00 p.m. with a vigil following at 6:00 p.m. at St. Ann's Church.  The funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday May 1st in

St Ann's Church with a reception following at the parish hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Butte Literacy Program or a charity of the donor's choice.
