After almost 31 years apart, our mom and dad have been reunited. Grandma, Granny, Aunt Kay, Mom died November 5, 2025, surrounded by family.

Katherine Irene Moran Tutty was born April 6, 1937, in Virginia City, Montana. After graduating from Butte High School in 1955, she attended Carroll College, where she earned her nursing degree - and she met Tom. After his romantic proposal in a letter from Fort Hood, where he told her he could get married on December 27 if she wanted to do that, they were indeed married at Saint Mary Church on December 27, 1958. They were happily married for 36 years until dad died on New Year's Eve in 1994.

A devout Catholic, she joined prayer groups wherever they were found, from study club and prayer group to prayer shawl crocheters. She was part of the Happy Hookers, a group of nearly 20 moms from the IC parish who did far more for each other than we will ever know.

Her calendar was always full: bowling, ceramics, class of 55 lunches, nurses gatherings, golfing, cards, the symphony, and community concerts; the list goes on. She was as funny as dad was - even if we didn't know it until after he died.

She cherished her friendships and relationships from her childhood friend Gladys June to all her class and Hooker friends. Kay has been described as so strong and so kind, the glue that holds us all together, a Saint for raising all us kids and our dad. She was quiet, and if you were prepared, she would give you her frank opinion. She never missed a game, a dance recital, a ceremony, or anything else her family did.

Her greatest joy in the last years has been her grandchildren, who always brought a smile to her face and a twinkle to her eyes.

She was crafty and talented, often painting the eyes on ceramics for others (including eyelashes which occasionally appeared on other faces on paintings!) She could sew, knit, crochet, cook for a throng, laugh out loud(even if she didn't get the joke), bowl, golf, skate. She even played the saxaphone in the Butte High Band! She spent 40+ years as a nurse, working in home health, hospital, and doctors' offices.

She spent most of her life on Woolman Street or Daly Street until 2020. In 2020, she accepted the invitation from Cal to join her family in Helena n the new 'family compound' where she lived out her life with  Laureen and Maureen and Cal  and their family. We are all grateful for the care and attention to mom, especially to Laureen, who became mom's primary caregiver for the past year.

Meeting her on her arrival in heaven are her husband Tom, her son Kevin, her parents Georgia R. Moran and Peter Moran, her baby brother and her twin; her Tutty family relatives Mary and Tom Tutty, Marg and Pat Caldwell, Pat Hennessey, and Tess and John Garabedian; her uncle Bill and Leah Ries, and her cousin Irene and Stan McLeod, and many more relatives and friends.

Left here on earth to continue her legacy are her children Cathy, Tom, Laureen, Michael, Robert and Kristal, Colleen, Tim and Lisa, Maureen and Cal, and Christine and Justin; Grandchildren Jessica and Cody, Lisa and Taylor, Jacob, Caleb and Brooklyn, Lucas and Jordan, MacKenzie, Keiran and Dalton, Riley, Mollee, Thommy, Eamonn, AnniKay, and Eirnin; Great grandchildren Kendyl, Kasyn, and Dutton. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Mary and John, Kevin and Carolyn, Patrick and Mary Kay, Therese, Ann and Ricardo, Trish, and Mike and Karla. She is also survived by cousins Billie Jean, John and Nancy, Michelle, Marcie and Norman, Geah and Eric, and Reese and Brooklyn,and her many friends and relatives who join us in celebrating her life.

You got your job done with all of us, mom. Remember to save seats for us - and don't forget to send that postcard.

Relatives and friends may call after 5:00pm Monday at the Immaculate Conception Church for visitations.  Parish Rosary will be celebrated at 6:00pm.  Visitations will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am Tuesday in the Church.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am.  Rite of Committal will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Tom Tutty Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Butte High School.
