Judith Anne Chance was born November 1, 1943, in Great Falls, Montana, to George and Geneveive (Fautsch) Chance. She passed away in Butte on June 4, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents and son Todd.

The Chances moved to Butte, Montana, in 1950. Judy graduated from Butte High School, where she was active in vocal music programs and sang in Top Sixteen.

Judy worked in the hospitality industry for twenty-five years.  During that time she designed several prize-winning floats for the Fourth of July parades. She also was a talented seamstress and enjoyed creative writing.

Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis twenty-six years ago, Judy always dealt with the challenges the disease brought with grace and dignity and never lost her sense of humor.

Judy is survived by daughter Shawna Gilbert, and sons Scott Gilbert, Curtis Gilbert, and Jordan Picket, grandchildren Ted Dick, Tim Dick, Tera Clark, and Kelsie (Clay) Bruha, and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Geoffrey (Lois) Chance, and nieces Rebecca Chance Cordova and Natalie Chance Palmer.

The family is grateful for the care Judy received by the staffs at Copper Ridge and Highland Hospice.

A memorial service will be held at Duggan Dolan Mortuary at 5 PM on Thursday, June 13.
