Jim "Lars" Maloughney passed away at his home on April 27, 2026 surrounded by his family. Jim was born on June 10, 1945 in Butte, Montana to John (Jack) Maloughney and Ann (Morgan) Maloughney. Jim attended Immaculate Conception and graduated from Butte Central in 1963. Jim was employed with the Berkley Pit, Safeway Warehouse and then retired from Montana Tech where he made lifelong friends.

Jim married the love of his life, Judy Thormahlen on October 4,1969, in Anaconda, Montana. Together they raised their two boys on faith, love, adventure, and laughter. As a family, they enjoyed many adventures whenever possible.

Jim's greatest joy in life were his grandchildren; he loved watching them grow. Jim enjoyed picking them up after school, taking them to practices, attending all their games and events, and of course, spoiling them to treats of their choice.

Jim is survived by his wife Judy. Sons; John (Chrissy), Kevin (Mandi), Grandkids; Devin (Bailey), Hayden (Chris) Ball, Kellie (Willie) and Brady. As well as many loved nieces, nephews and cousins as well as his faithful dog, Rocky. Jim was blessed with a large and loving family and he will be dearly missed.

Jim is proceeded in death by his parents; John and Ann, Brothers; Mickey, Pat (Nancy) and Dan, Sister; Nancy (Don) Saville. Niece; Tammy Poppe and mother-in-law Cecil Thormahlen (Grandma T).

The family would like to give a special thanks to Jims' friends at Fresenius Dialysis Center, Jim thought the world of you all. Thank you to Dr. Schoenfield, Dr. Lakatua, Dr. Hall, and  Krysten Lester and Kira Kindt of Honey Bee Hospice. As well as a special thank you to Father Beretta.

Friends may call on Saturday, May 02, 2026, after 10:00 am in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am.
