James Patrick Harrington V passed away due to a fatal automobile accident on December 11, 2023, in Manteca, California.

James was born in Butte, Montana on October 8, 1992. He attended Kennedy Elementary School and later moved with his family to Washington State where he attended Southridge High School, excelling in football and tennis. He attended college in Southern California and played football before pursuing a career in sales, where he was exceptionally talented.

James loved his family more than anything. At 6'6, he was the oldest sibling but not the tallest. James was encouraging, kind, and thoughtful, his support and guidance as a big brother has had a profound and continuing impact on his siblings. He would do anything for the people he loved, from helping his mom make ends meet to helping put his brother Matthew through college. Family always came first, and he enjoyed fly fishing, camping, skiing, snowmobiling and all outdoor sports with them. He would travel to enjoy Notre Dame games with his grandpa, join softball tournaments with his cousins, and spend countless hours with his siblings who adored him. He was also the best with dogs, especially his Rhodesian Ridgeback Oakley.

James had the biggest heart and the most generous spirit. He lived out his faith by loving all people and giving generously. If he ever had anything extra, he would give it away. He would drop everything to travel and celebrate good news, help out, or just spend time with loved ones. James was friendly, kind and could talk to anyone and make them feel known.

James was passionate about football and played quarterback. Growing up he would spend hours throwing the ball with his brother Matthew. James loved the sport and enjoyed mentoring aspiring football players. He wanted to go back to school to become a teacher and coach football. James also loved music. He wrote songs, played guitar and was a talented singer. He even tried out for The Voice and was looking forward to auditioning again this year. James loved life and was surrounded by family and friends who loved him. His joyful energy was contagious, and he made the world a brighter and more fun place.

James is survived by his father, James Patrick IV and Elizabeth Harrington , his mother, Bobbi Jo Meyers; brothers, Matthew (Patricia) and Colin; sisters, Cara, Brooklyn and Mercedes; grandparents, James Patrick Harrington III (Susie), and Charles and Ann Field; and his nephew, Ciaran Harrington.

He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Jeanette and Bryon Wilson, Donna and Marty Yakawich, Diana and Tom Renouard, Laura and Steve Noctor, Jessie and Dawn Lucas, Catherine Harrington and Tommy Cooney, Charlie and Brandi Field, Jason Meyers, Meagen Meyers, Cory Larson; and numerous cousins.

James was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joan Harrington, Robert and Gail Meyers, and Judith McEvers as well as his cousin Javonte Larson.

Visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. Thursday, December 21, at Duggan Dolan Mortuary, 1805 Meadowlark, with a vigil at 6. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 22, at St. Patrick's Church, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
