Harry Mason "Bud" Voss died March 4, 2025, at his home with his wife Millie and daughters Judy, Jeanne and his caregiver and friend Avery by his side.  Bud was born in Twin Falls Idaho on June 12, 1932 to Herman and Eula "Blanchard" Voss.  Bud was born at home and was so small the doctor told his mother not to name him because he wouldn't survive.  Bud was raised and attended school in Butte.  He joined the Army Reserves and was called to serve in Korea.

He met the love of his life, Millie Durkin, at Leon and Eddie's Drive Inn.  In 1954 they married and celebrated 70 years of marriage last August.

On his return to Butte from Korea Bud went to work as an apprentice machinist for McGrew Machine Shop where he worked for about 10 years.  He then spent another 10 years working at the machine shop in the Metallurgy Department at Montana Tech.

In 1978 he purchased land on the corner of 2nd and Utah Street where the burnt remains of McGrew Machine Shop existed.  He built the shop and Voss Machine was born. Bud operated the machine shop with sons Allan and Joe for years.

Upon retirement, Bud and Millie traveled extensively around the United States.  In later years they spent winters in Arizona where Bud took up woodworking.  He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the guys in the wood shop at Happy Trails.

In his lifetime Bud built three houses for his family.  He was an avid fisherman and skier.  A great day for him was spending the day on the banks of the Bloody Dick with his brother Stan.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law (Thomas and Mildred Durkin), brothers Stan Voss, Jim and Buck Burkhart, brothers-in-law Chuck, Jim and Rob Durkin, sons Allan and Joe, and son-in-law Carl Bryant.

He is survived by his wife Millie, daughters Judy Bryant (Don Jeffery) and Jeanne Fleming, daughter-in-law Darlene Voss.

Grandchildren Michael Bryant (Stephanie), Erin Williams (John), Katie Blaskovich, Jon Voss, Steve Voss (Mariah), Melody Fleming, Daniel Fleming (Kennedy), Jason Fleming (Shelby).

Bonus grandchildren, Jessica Jeffery, Nick Jeffery, Rachel Benski, Noelle Coates, and Alex McQuinn.

Great-grandchildren, Wes, Eli, Drew, and Kyler Bryant, Cian, Vivian Williams, Brynn Blaskovich, Joe Fleming, Kaiden, Trenton, Karson Voss, Karyhana Britt, Chase, Emily and baby Harper Fleming (due in August).

The family would like to thank the staff from Trek (formerly Senior Solutions) and Hospice for the excellent and compassionate care Bud and his family received in his last days.

Visitation will be at Holy Spirit Church Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 10:00 am with     Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am.  Rite of Committal will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
