Geraldine ( Jeri ) O'Brien Rakich passed November 27th , after a courageous battle with cancer, with loved ones by her side. The second of five children of Murray Joseph and Edna Whalen O'Brien, Jeri was born August 31, 1942 in Butte, Montana. She attended St. Ann's school, graduated from Butte High in 1960, and then attended the University of Montana. Jeri briefly worked at KXLF television and then spent the remainder of her career with the Montana Power Company, which she retired from.

Jeri married her "Rock" Millan Rakich on March 28, 1969. Along with their son Scott, Rocky and Jeri enjoyed many trips to visit family and friends and even took in an occasional camping trip. Jeri always carried herself with a distinguished level of class and it showed through in everything she did from her decorating and entertaining skills, to her true care and love for people. Jeri was friends with everyone whose path she crossed and could "visit" with the best of them. She was known to many as "Sweet Geraldine" a name she easily lived up to. Jeri could often be found on any given weekend at the Met Tavern with her family and friends, dressed to the nines, and playing her favorite songs on the jukebox. She found great pleasure in watching gymnastics, figure skating, and especially tennis. She was naturally elated to spend valuable time with her two grandsons and watch them not only excel academically, but also in her favorite sport of tennis. She was particularly fond of her daughter in law Lisa and her niece Heather O'Brien and truly valued the time they were able to spend together. Jeri also had a very soft spot in her heart for their beloved pets, most recently her special adopted kitty "Pepsi". Jeri always wanted to take care of less fortunate dogs and kitties.

Jeri was preceded in death by her parents and mother in law, Julia Rakich.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years Millan, son Scott (Lisa) Rakich of Dillon, grandsons Todd and Bradley Rakich, son Leo (Kathy) Smith of Pleasant Hill, California and granddaughter Katie, sisters Julie (Bob) Thullen of Shafter California and Patti (Monty) Sampson of Sequim Washington, brother Jay (Sue) O'Brien, their daughter Heather , and brother Jim O'Brien of Butte. She is also survived by her many special friends and sister-in-law's Susan Caddy O'Brien and Mildred Rakich-McKay of Butte as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Sweet Geraldine will be missed by many.
Friends are asked to join the family on Friday after 10:00 am in the Duggan Dolan Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am.
