Gary Dean Becker passed away August 02, 2022 surrounded by his loving family and friends.  Gary was born on March 10, 1954 to Ervin and Serina (Overbo) Becker in San Diego, CA while his dad was stationed there for his military service.  Gary had an older brother Randy.

Upon the completion of his father's service, Gary moved back to Billings, MT. He grew up spending a lot of his time at the family farm south of Billings along Blue Creek. He dearly loved working on the farm and being around his family, especially his cousins Steve and Jim Becker and Uncle Ben Becker. Gary attended and graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1972. He attended Eastern College in Billings for two years and received furthering education in Business.

While working as an EMT Gary met the love of his life, Bonnie Hecker, who was an RN at St. Vincent's hospital. He was able to pester her enough while they were working that she finally agreed to go on a date. That first date led to their marriage on June 06, 1980. Together they had two sons, Craig and Scott.

Gary made the decision in 1984 to pursue a career as a Montana Highway Patrolman. He served as a cadet beginning in April, 1984. He graduated the 27th Academy and was sworn in July, 1987. He served as a Trooper until he was promoted to Sergeant in October, 1995. In November, 2002 Gary was promoted to Captain and became the District VII Commander. A year later he transferred to Butte as Captain and became the District III Commander. Gary retired from the Montana Highway Patrol in December, 2018. Gary also took on additional roles throughout his career. He was involved with the Montana Hope Project and the Montana Tow Truckers Association. Gary especially enjoyed his time on the Montana Tow Truckers Association, meeting many good friends from all across the state. In 2018 Gary was inducted into the Montana Tow Truckers Association Hall of Fame.

Gary loved to spend time with friends and family golfing, fishing, camping, and hunting. He also enjoyed watching his sons play sports. In December 2021 Gary became a Grandpa. He loved his grandson and thought his little smile was the greatest thing on earth. Gary was always on the move and would be the first person to lend a helping hand when others were in need.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, brother, father and mother-in-law Ralph and Mary Hecker. Survivors include wife Bonnie, sons Craig (Chelsey), Scott, Grandson Roy Becker, brother and sister-in-law LeVerne and Marcia Hecker, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
