Emily A. Downey passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, February 18, 2016 surround by her loving family. She was born on September 23, 1934 in Butte Montana, to Thomas and Eliza Rogers.
Emily was born and raised in Butte, attended St. Lawrence Catholic School and Graduated from Butte Central High School. She loved working in customer service, and helping out in any way she could. She retired from Sears in Butte.
On June 27, 1953, she married the love of her life, John M Downey. They were blessed with three wonderful children; John J, Paul & Dianna. Together, they loved fishing, camping, golfing, western music, dancing and traveling. The light of their lives were their 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Emily was greeted at the golden gates by the love of her life, John; Mother, Father and Grandparents, Sisters; Mildred Durkin, Margaret Oren, Fran Curran and Jo Anne Monaco, Brothers; William Rogers, Dean Rogers.
She is survived by her children John & Joan Downey, Paul & Ellen Downey, Dianna Downey, Siblings; Ellen Lee, Buck Rogers, Grandchildren; Gregory Sanchez, Jennifer Downey, John J Downey JR, Jill & Josh Hotalen, Shawn & Kim Sanchez, Jasmine & Mathew Montez, Lacey Downey, Emily & Marco Martinez, Katie & Cody Reilly, Great-Grandchildren; Brody A Becker, Blake A Becker, Bridger A Becker, Hunter M Hotalen, Hailey A Hotalen, Dawson L Hotalen, Mathew J Montez, Jaxson M Montez, Chloe M Reilly, Gunner P Reilly (soon to arrive), Mariah R Sanchez, Gloria G Martinez, and many other family and friends.

Relatives and friends are asked to join us in celebrating the life of our dear loved one, Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at St. Patrick's Church for visitations at 10am. Funeral Mass will begin at 11am. Rite of Committal will follow in the Holy Cross Mausoleum. Luncheon to follow at the Butte Depot, 818 S. Arizona. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be sent to The Lady of the Rockies or Frontier Home Health & Hospice.
