Elizabeth Louise "Betty" Knoepke passed away on Wednesday evening at the Springs Assisted Living in Butte, tana.  Betty was born in Butte on November 12, 1929.  She was the daughter of John Robert and Olga (Miller) O'Bill.

Betty attended local schools and graduated from Butte High School.  She was an excellent swimmer and worked as a lifeguard at Gregson Hot Springs, which was later known as Fairmont Hot Springs.  Betty's cheerful personality and social skills made her a natural to work with the public.  She was employed at various Butte businesses, which included Hennessy's Department Store, Lenz's, and Bernie's Pharmacy,

In May of 1950, Betty married Robert Knoepke in St. Joseph's Catholic Church.  They later divorced.

In addition to Betty's ability as a swimmer, she enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities.  She loved to golf, snow ski, and water ski.  She enjoyed card games, especially Bridge.  However, for all her pleasures and past times, the center of Betty's universe was always her family and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her son, David Knoepke; her brother, Bob O'Bill; her sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Chuck McCall; son-in-law, Ralph "Butch" Strain; and daughter-in-law, Carol Knoepke.  She is survived by her daughter, Vicky Strain; son, John (Lindy) Knoepke; grandsons, David (Beth) Knoepke, Jr. and Matthew (Diane) Knoepke; and 7 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her aunts, Joyce O'Bill and Carol O'Bill; cousins, Bob and Meriam Lenz; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

Friends may call of Monday after 1:00 PM in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM with Rite of Committal to follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
