We talked to our mom about her obituary, she said it should be simple, two words, "Dot Died." This reflects her straightforward personality.

Our mom passed away in her home with family by her side. She was so loved and is missed terribly.

Dorothea was born in McLeod, MT to Perry and Carolyn (Mras) Blakeley. She grew up and attended schools in Virginia City, Whitehall, and Butte.

Our mom loved Montana, winter and summer. She enjoyed camping, horseback riding, sledding, four-wheeling, and fly-fishing at the Upper Boulder near McLeod. She also loved all types of rocks, big and small and gold panning.

She loved music and dancing, especially if Elvis was singing. She was also very crafty, often working on some type of project whether it be woodworking, crocheting scarves to give away in the winter, creating greeting cards and gardening in her beautiful rock garden.

Mom was a hard worker for much of her life, holding various waitressing positions, early childhood education and a Radiology Technician at St. James Hospital. A highlight was being involved in the Grandparent Foster program.

Dot married Charles Lafley, they had two sons together, Charles Wade and Lawrence Shane Lafley.

Her second marriage to Billy Vail produced two daughters, Becky and Roxie.

She is survived by her two daughters, Becky (Mike) Clark of Butte and Rochelle (Allan) Jagger of Pinehurst, NC. Also, two sisters, Pauleen Blakeley and Maureen (Carl) King. Two grandsons, Cody and Kyle Clark. Three granddaughters, Shanna (Shane) Jewell, Shannon (Dan) DelVecchio and Audrey (Ryan) Wasmund, and 8 great grandchildren. Plus, numerous nieces and nephews.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Billy, sons Wade and Shane, siblings Jack and Jim Blakeley, Colleen Crane, Helen Rybus, and Verna Huffman.

She had many special people in her life, we'd like to give a big thank you to Darcie (niece) and Dan Stroud, friends Joann Piazzola and Critt Crittenton. She was blessed to have all of you in her life.

She found comfort in her relationship with the Lord and being a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Lunch will be provided after the service.

Memorials to Aldersgate Church or the Butte Food Bank would be greatly appreciated.
