Doreen M Strizic was born October 10th, 1928, in Butte, MT to Angelina and Jospeh Stefani who both passed away when she was 18 months old. Doreen was raised by her older brother Dan and his wife Catherine. Doreen grew up in Meaderville with her three sisters Helen, Betty Lou, and Danette. Doreen's family owned the Meaderville Merc grocery store where she started working as a young child. Doreen graduated from Girls Central High School in 1946. She attended St. Mary's college in Leavenworth, KS for two years then returned to Meaderville and continued working at the store. She married Walter "Krush" Strizic on July 22nd, 1951, and they moved to the McQueen Addition. Doreen and Krush had two children Stanley and Dan. In 1967, the four of them moved to the Hillcrest Addition on Fairway Ave where Doreen peacefully passed away on December 18th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Doreen was able to live in her home until she passed which was something she dearly cherished.

Doreen and Krush were married for 58 years and enjoyed a wonderful life together. They enjoyed dancing, gambling, regular trips to Nevada, barbecues, fishing, and mushroom picking in Vipond Park. Wise River became a special place for them with the purchase of their cabin in 1970. Doreen continued the Wise River memories, especially mushroom picking in Vipond Park. She showed the grandkids her secret mushroom lines and even filled her gunny sack this May.

Doreen enjoyed many things but most of all she loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. Gramma was always found in the stands watching and cheering them on in all their activities. Just last month she was cheering for her great-granddaughter London at her volleyball tournament. Gramma's car could always be found at Hillcrest school picking up one of the grandkids. She enjoyed going on the chartered flight from Butte to Windover, NV on gambling trips and even went twice in the last four years with Dan. In recent years, Gramma enjoyed going to Canyon Ferry in late summer and watching the grandkids on the water as well as trips to Coeur d'Alene with all the kids. Lately, Gramma's weekly ritual was getting her hair done, gambling, and going to dinner every Thursday.

Treasured memories were Sunday's and holidays where Gramma dressed in her apron, prepared large, delicious home cooked meals. Her strawberry rhubarb pie, chocolate chip cookies, banana bread, and lasagna were everyone's favorites.

Doreen was preceded in death by her husband Krush, mother and father Angelina and Jospeh Stefani, parents Dan and Catherine Stefani, brother Tony (Helen) Stefani, sisters Sister Daniel (Helen) Stefani, Sister Mary Kathleen (Betty Lou) Stefani and Danette (Gene) Quinn, mother-in-law Ann (Steve) Zderic, brothers-in-law Stanley Strizic and Jim Cronin, and sister-in-law Leona (Jack) Doherty.

Doreen is survived by her sons Stanley and Dan (Liz), grandchildren Rachel, Danielle (Joe), Clay (Kierstan), and Cassidy (Zach), great grandchildren Payton, London, Brynn, Emrie, and Brielle, sister-in-law Kathryn Cronin, and many special nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the wonderful caregivers Doreen has had over the last few years. Our special thanks goes to Tina Brozovich, Clay and Cassidy's mom for all of her help over the years, Dave Starcevich who finally received Gramma's blessing for his povitica, and Ken Johnson who's hospitality and joking at Wise River will be missed.

Services will be held on Friday January 10th at St. Ann's Catholic Church at 11:00 am with visitations beginning at 10:00 am. Memorials can be made to a charity of your choosing.
