Mr. David Scott Stewart passed away on Monday at his residence.  David was born in Mulan, Idaho on November 13, 1925, the son of Harry S. and Jessie M. Stewart.

David attended the Sherman School in Walkerville and graduated from Butte High School.  He enlisted in the United States Navy and served in World War II.  Upon returning to Butte, he became employed by the ACM (Anaconda Copper Mining Company).

David married Frances Hastie.  They remained constant companions until Frances' death in 1995.  After his wife's passing, he enjoyed visiting car lots, horses, and was an avid football fan.

In addition to his wife, Frances, David was preceded in death by his sister, Janet S. Sampson; his daughter-in-law, Linda Louise Stewart; and his son-in-law, Henry William "Sonny" Philp.  He is survived by his son, David Stewart; his daughter, Carole Philp; and his grandchildren, Randy Philp, Laurie Philp-Payne, Dori Roberts, and Scott Stewart.  He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday after 10:00 am in St. John's Episcopal Church, located on Broadway St.  Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am.  Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery.
