David James Crowley

It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of David James Crowley.

Dave was born on January 18, 1957, in Butte, Montana, to Elmer Crowley and Marie (Hall-Goodnough) Crowley. He was raised in Maud S Canyon, a place that remained close to his heart throughout his life. He attended Saint Ann's Grade School and Central Junior High before completing his education at Butte High School.

After graduating , Dave worked for Riley's Meat Market and Simon's Dairy. He was also employed by O'Keefe Drilling for a short time before opening his own drilling company, Crowley Environmental.

In 1980, Dave married Susan Hoar. Together, they raised their children, Jonathan, Marcus, and Sara Crowley, in Maud S Canyon—Dave's lifelong home and happy place.

The greatest pride and joy of Dave's life was his grandson, Taytem. He treasured the time they shared and loved him beyond measure.

Dave was happiest outdoors. He enjoyed floating, hunting, soaking in the Renova hot pots, taking long rides on his Harley, and spending time in the mountains surrounded by nature. His beloved pets The Rotties, Dee and Mitzi, brought him companionship and great comfort. True to his Irish heritage, Dave could spin a good story, and those who knew him will remember his unmistakable personality, sense of humor, and ability to make a story worth hearing.

Dave is survived by his sons, Jonathan Crowley and Marcus (Kelly Hancock) Crowley; his beloved grandson, Taytem Crowley; his brother, Robert Crowley; his sisters, Marie (Jim) Hislop and Marcia DeShazo; and his sister-in-law, Marge Crowley.

He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Matt (Leslie) Hislop, Mike (Nicole) Hislop, Miranda (Scott) Santos, Brad (Lacey) DeShazo, Ken (Lisa) DeShazo, Ashley DeShazo, Theda (Phil) Crawford, and Shelley Salcido, Monique Collins, Traci Merwin, Jeff Hale, Debbie Merriam as well as numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and other family members who will miss him dearly.

Dave was preceded in death by his daughter, Sara Crowley; his parents, Elmer and Marie Crowley; his brothers, Larry, Joey, and Elmer Crowley; his sisters, Carol Jean Wickham, Darlene Hale, Judy Kelly, and Bernice Castle, the twin baby girls; his brother-in-law, Ken DeShazo; his nephew, Christopher DeShazo; and Bernie Duran, nieces;  Leah Collins, Cassie Dotson, Kelly Patterson, Karen Daly, Kimberly Murphy, Pam Crowley, and Lori Crowley.

In accordance with Dave's wishes, no services will be held.

Dave left this world doing something he loved—relaxing in the Renova hot pots beneath the night sky while listening to his favorite tunes. It was a peaceful and fitting farewell for a man who felt most at home in the beauty and freedom of the outdoors.

As one of his favorite sentiments reminds us, "In heaven, there ain't no beer, that's why we drink it here."—so raise one in Dave's honor, share a good story, and remember him with a smile.
