Daryl Ray West was born March 19, 1980 in Hugo, Oklahoma to Ray and Hazle (Murphy) West. He left us on December 22, 2022 in Butte, Montana at the age of 42.

Daryl attended school at Fort Towson, Oklahoma and graduated from Hugo High School in Hugo, Oklahoma.  Following in the footsteps of his father, Daryl was very proud to be a carpenter by trade.  Before leaving Oklahoma, he worked with his sister Debi in her remodeling business.  He was helping to rebuild Historic Butte as a Project Manager at the time of his death.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved spending time with his sons Daymon and Kaden, his fur son Lucky, and his friends.  He would give the shirt off his back to help a friend in need.  He bravely saved at least a couple of lives by chopping the head off a copperhead snake that was about to bite a friend and rescuing his nephew with a machete from being attacked by a wild coyote/dog.  He charged headlong to the rescue.  His valor, friendship, and sarcastic humor will be sorely missed by all that knew him.

Daryl was very proud of his Irish Murphy heritage.  He was a direct descendant of Choctaw Chief Thomas LeFlore, who lead his family over the Trail of Tears, Choctaw Chief David Folsom, and Chickamauga Cherokee Chief Oconostota.  He was a Tribal member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

Daryl was preceded in death by his parents and brother Tony West; grandparents Earl and Leona West and Ernest and Susie Murphy; uncles Winston, Bud, JW, Lloyd, Pink, Carl, Lewis, Audis, Jimmie, Billy, Frank, and Gary Murphy; aunts Kathleen Murphy Minter and Beatrice West Mahaffey; cousins Sandra Murphy Marshall and Barbara Ridenour; brother-in-law Adam Cooper.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons Daymon and Kaden West and their mother Kimberly Achziger of Butte, Montana; fur son Lucky; sisters Marsha Magby of Fort Towson, Oklahoma and Debi West of Hugo, Oklahoma; nephews Aaron Rowden and Chad Magby; nieces Jennifer Kemp, Kristin Payne, Sarah Rowden, and Bailey Clay; great nephews and nieces Nadalie, William, Kayden, Matthew, Brodey, Kaleigh, Cameron, Mark, Calum, Daniel, Tate, Gianna, and Lakota; uncle Amos Murphy; brother-in-law Salomon Rojas; numerous cousins; best friend brothers Jewel "Boo" Burris and Donny Roberson, and a host of other friends in Oklahoma, Texas, and Montana.
