Colleen Cashell Berger

Colleen Berger, a loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away on May 22nd in Billings MT following a stroke. She endured a difficult battle against stage four cancer for the last four years and had been in remission since last June. Colleen was born October 15, 1955, in Butte MT to James and Barbara (McCarthy) Cashell.

Not many people are lucky enough to meet the love of their life in high school, but Colleen was just so blessed. She met Joe Berger in high school, and they've been soul mates ever since. Colleen married Joe at St. John's church in Butte MT on March 27, 1976. Colleen and Joe were fortunate to celebrate 50 years of marriage earlier this year.  Joe and Colleen provided an example for their family of what true love and devotion looked like.

Colleen's greatest joy in life was her family. She was the backbone that her kids relied upon and later became the biggest supporter and spoiler of her grandchildren. She celebrated their every success and had an excuse ready for anything they did wrong.  She spent countless hours watching dance, basketball, football, volleyball, softball and baseball all over the state. She loved nothing more than a book to read and a grandkid to sing to.

In addition to her beloved husband Joe, Colleen is survived and will be dearly missed by her children, Jenni (Alex) Schneider, Chris (Corisa) Berger, Tim (Kennda) Berger, and Brian (Kerrie) Berger. She will also be terribly missed by her grandchildren, Jared and Cashton Schneider, Gabby and Ashlyn Leyba, Jaeden, Kelton, Tayvin, and Trevin Berger, and Weston and Quinton Berger. Colleen is also survived by her siblings, Jim (Diane) Cashell, Bill (Sarah) Cashell, Cathy Cashell-McPherson, and Marilou (Ed) Hart. Colleen is also survived by her sister-in-law Barb Wichman, brother-in-law Mike Richey and many nieces, nephews and cousins that she loved dearly.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Fran and Mary Berger, her brothers in-law Ed Berger, Mike Berger, and  Dave McPherson and her sister-in-law Eileen Richey.

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Colleen's life on Monday, June 1st at 11:00 am at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 2100 Farragut Ave, Butte, MT.
