January 3, 2024, Clelia G. "Curley" Rooney passed away peacefully with her family by her side.

Curley was born August 15, 1928, at home in Walkerville, Montana to Abele and Giulia Giop. She was the youngest of 5 children. Growing up she attended The Sherman grade school and then Butte High School. She worked at Murphy's Plumbing when she met, fell in love with and married her soulmate and the love of her life, Francis (Jack) Rooney. He claimed he always needed to go there to pick up supplies for his dad. March 15,1952 they were married in the St. Lawrence Church in Walkerville. They raised one son and five daughters. Sadly, they were only married 27 years when Jack suddenly and unexpectedly passed away.  She was a very devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. During those years she loved doing family activities. Her favorite activities were camping and fishing. It was nothing for her to pack up the small truck camper with six kids, Jack and herself. She was described as a "Whirling Dervish" because of her endless energy to maneuver her little tribe to tasks and "Sarge" because of how she cared for them. As the kids grew up and moved out, she always cherished the times they came back to visit, especially when she started having grandkids. She never wanted you to leave without her giving you something. She was a feisty little Italian with a big heart. She'd show you who was the boss with her two fists raised and then give you a hug and kiss.

She has now gone to Heaven to be with her husband, Jack, a son-in-law, Wayne Weyer, a daughter-in-law, Sandy Rooney, a grandson, Jason Kaldor, a grandson, Jack Kautz, her parents and all her siblings. She is survived by a son, Lawrence Rooney, daughters, Candace and Forrest Kaldor, Bernadette and Everett Tregidga, Linda and Dave Weekes, Barbara Weyer and Mark Thompson, Priscilla and Dean Luukkonen, 16 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, one sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Also, Jim and Wendy Kautz, who were just like her kids.

Curley's family would like to thank the Crest Nursing Home for the excellent care she received there.

Curley's funeral service will be at Duggan and Dolan Mortuary, January 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at The Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception will be held at the McQueen Club after 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in the donor's choice.
