Clayton James Phillips passed away on June 21, 2026 at Logan Regional Medical Center in Kalispell, Montana.  Clayton was born on July 15, 2012, in Butte, Montana to Ashley Hossack and James Phillips Jr.

Clayton attended Butte Central Elementary and Junior High School, where he recently graduated from 8th grade on May 27, 2026. He was part of the Orphan Girl Theater for the past 6 years, where he shared his heart, his humor, his curiosity, and wonderful sense of character with everyone.

Clayton had many hobbies, including Legos, Music (Eminem), YouTube, Harry Potter, reading, traveling with family, hanging out with friends, and playing Minecraft.

Clayton is preceded in death by great-grandparents, Robert and Mary Kay Davis, Bill and Janet Welsh, George and Betty Hossack, Mike and Jean Sullivan, and Frank and Mary Lanch; grandfather Jim Phillips Sr.; great-aunts and uncles,  Jack Phillips, Crystal Lanch, and Ron Welsh; and cousin, Ricky Sullivan.

Clayton is survived by his parents, Ashley Hossack (Jack Hocking) and James Phillips Jr.; his sister and best friend, Hayden Phillips; and Angel Hocking; grandparents, Terrance and Teri (Hossack) Johnson, Bruce Hossack, Bill and Heather Welsh, Pam Phillips, and Lewey Pollard; aunts and uncles: Melynn Hossack, Kallie Hossack, Brodi Doyle, Brian Phillips, Brad and Clarissa Welsh, Adam and Samantha Hocking, and Chance and Nicholas Conlan; and great aunts and uncles, Chris and Karen Mandic, Bob Davis, Mick and Brenda Sullivan, Debbie and Terry Wilson, Deann Sullivan (Darren Brown), Rick and Cathy Sullivan, Jerry and Lillian Sullivan, and Dan and Tracy Gageby.  He is also survived by numerous much loved cousins, friends, and other relatives.

A celebration of Clayton's life will be held on July 17, 2026 at 4:00 PM in the Maroon Athletic Center located at 550 E. Mercury St.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Orphan Girl Children's Theater or the Clayton James Phillips Scholarship Fund at Butte Central.
