Mrs. Charlotte Ann Shields passed away early Saturday morning in St. James Healthcare. Charlotte was born in Butte on February 25, 1929, the daughter of Charles and Margaret (McCloskey) McGee.

Charlotte attended St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Girls Central in 1948. She was employed as a Teacher's Aide throughout the Butte School District for 22 years, and worked as a Foster Grandparent for 10 years. As well as, dedicating her time to children, she gave her gift of her time and talent as a volunteer at Our Lady of the Rockies and St. James Community Hospital. She was also active in the Hibernians, the Daughters of Isabella, the monthly Luncheon Club of Hennessy's Department Store, the Class of 1948 Luncheon, and the Knights of Columbus Luncheon Club. The center of Charlotte's life was always faith, family, and friends. She was a devout Catholic and a devoted parishioner of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

On August 07, 1949, Charlotte married Frank Shields in St. Mary's Catholic Church. He preceded her in death.

In addition to her husband, Charlotte was precede in death by her parents; her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Joe Leary; her grandson, Danny Shields; her brother, John McGee; and her sisters, Katherine Erickson, Margaret Lynch, and Mary Cummings. She is survived by her daughter Patsy (Pat) Callahan; her sons, Frank (Wanda) Shields, Dan (Christelle) Shields, and Tim Shields; her grandchildren, Brian (Jaclyn) Callahan, Jennifer (Jeremy) Bishop, Dan (Michelle) Callahan, Kacie (Derek) Clary, Kristine (Josiah) Ediger, Frankie Shields, Sean Shields, Joe (Katie) Leary, Lindsay (Shain) Wolstein, Mike Leary, Kevin (Jan) Shields, Kyle Shields, Brody Shields, and Natasha Shields; her sister, Rita Melvin; 15 Great Grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends are asked to join the family on Friday after 10:00 am in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, with the Rite of Committal to follow in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Our Lady of the Rockies, the Shrine's Children's Hospital, the Columbia Gardens Carousel Fund, or the charity of the donor's choice.
