Carole Durkin, wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on Wednesday, July 15th, 2026 in Butte.

Carole was born in Butte to Tom and Gloria Davies on January 27, 1938.  She was the middle child, having an older and a younger sister.  She was raised in Walkerville, and attended Sherman Grade School, graduating from Butte High in 1956.

Carole married her husband Tom on October 18, 1958 and they would have celebrated their 68th anniversary this year.  They had a wonderful life together,  and in the early days spent nearly every weekend taking the family camping in the summer and skiing in the winter.

Carole worked at New York Life and later worked as an Accountant at the Montana Bureau of Mines where she retired in 1999 after 30 years.

Upon retirement Tom and Carole bought a motorhome and headed south, eventually spending 25 winters in Yuma AZ.    Carole was an avid bowler and while in Yuma played golf and shuffleboard, where she won numerous pins and trophies.  She was a fierce competitor, but always with a smile on her face.

She is survived her husband Tom, son Mike (Tammy) Durkin, daughter Michelle (Jim) Wetzel, sister Kathy (Jim) Loughney, sisters-in-law Millie Durkin, Penny Durkin, and brothers-in-law Pat (Gerry) Durkin and Dan (Marilyn) Durkin, grandchildren Cassie Durkin and Mikayla Durkin and great grandson Jackson Armstrong along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Gloria Davies, mother and father in-law Tom and Mildred Durkin, sister and husband, Lee and Al Bersanti,  brothers-in-law Jim (and Lucina) Durkin, Charles Durkin, Rob Durkin, Bud Voss, nephews Allan Voss,  Joe Voss, Carl Bryant, and niece Laurie Bersanti.

Carole will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.  In keeping with her wishes, no services will be held.  Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
