Carol M Berry, beloved mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, and aunt left us suddenly on January 16, 2023 to continue her piano and organ music making for heaven's choir.

Carol was born to Fred and Mamie Stanaway on December 13, 1936 in Butte. She graduated from Butte Girls Central in 1954.

Carol married the love of her life, Walter Berry, on June 26 ^th , 1954.  Before their first child was born in 1956, Carol's mother passed away.  She and Walt moved back in with her dad to help take care of him and her younger brother, Fred.  They remained there until their third child was a year old and their new home on Adams street was built.

Carol lost Walt in January of 2005 after they had celebrated their 50 ^th wedding anniversary the prior year. Carol delighted in her six children, their spouses, 13 grandchildren and their spouses, and eight great-grandchildren. Truly, her big family was her greatest joy and she lived for taking care of all of them (as much as they allowed her to). Her family will forever miss Grandma Berry at every family event and especially at the annual Seeley Lake family reunion, which she and Walt started about 50 years ago with the St. Ann's choir.

Carol started teaching piano and playing church services at a very young age. Over her lifetime, she taught hundreds of Butte children and adults. She especially enjoyed teaching and inspiring her grandchildren and even great-grandchildren to love the piano and music, which they carry on through voice, instruments, and dance. Carol also continued playing for the Butte Catholic community for services, weddings, and funerals up to the time of her death. She thought she was playing three funerals and had four lessons scheduled this week! Her only day off was the day Debra was doing her hair.

Carol also accompanied many theater shows throughout the years and enjoyed playing with Walt and the Berry's Tune Toppers dance band, entertaining for many occasions.

Carol is survived by Judy and Gary Staudinger of Butte, Linda and Michael McDaniel of Butte, Jack and LeeAnn Berry of Helena, Kevin and Cindy Berry of Spokane, Kathy and Charlie Schermele of Great Falls, and Arlene Berry of Missoula; Grandchildren Brendan (Ashleigh) Hursh, Katie Crowe, Kiersten (CeeJay) Brown, Erik (Lauren) Berry, Nicholas McDaniel, Nichole McDaniel, Jason (Brett) Berry, Megan (Collin) Connelly, Jamie (Seth) Berry, Jenna (Skyler) Moses, Zach Schermele, Luke Schermele, and Hannah Schermele; Great-grandchildren Kiera, Abby, and Miles Hursh, Natalie Crowe, Kai Amann, Lexon Brown, Romii McDaniel, and Clair Connelly. In addition, she is survived by her brother Fred (Sue) Stanaway, and numerous nieces and nephews including Berry's, McKay's and Stanaway's.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, spouse Walt Berry, her son Dick Berry, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Bob and Dorothy (Dot) Berry, Eileen and Jim Tourikis, Katherine (Kay) and Joe McKay, Sister Marian Berry and son-in-law Clayton (Lou) Hursh.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening at St. Ann's Church beginning at 5:00 P.M.  Parish Vigil will be recited at 6:00 P.M.  Mass of the Resurrection will be Friday at St. Ann's at 1:00 P.M.

Carol will be missed by her family, friends, and musical community who loved her so much. She was an inspiration in generosity, kindness, and faith, and will be welcomed by the angels.
