Brinley Sandra Kay Moore was born on August 12th, 2025. She was born en caul, enclosed in her amniotic sac. As if she wasn't ready to leave the safety of her mother for the big outside world, like the way summer clings to August before giving way to fall. Brinley was always in moments of change, transformation. Her birth was surreal, sacred, full of purpose still not fully understood. She weighed just 4 pounds, 6 ounces. So small, so fragile, yet her breaths rewrote everything with each rise and fall of her chest

Brinley was born with Down syndrome and a congenital heart defect. We knew this about Brinley far before she came into this world and while there was so much uncertainty, there was already so much more love. Brinley's heart defect meant that from the moment she was born, she was fighting. Her body demanded more than it was able to give and she endured more than most will have to in a lifetime. Yet, she did so bravely. Not knowing any other way but forward,  no other life than the one given to her. Brinley didn't get an easy story, but she created a powerful one. One so wrapped up in love and care that it is impossible to grasp.

Her first 36 days of life were spent in the NICU in Missoula, Montana. These days are a blur of exhaustion and fear wrapped up in so much love and longing. The nurses and doctors during this time did not treat her like a number, but protected her, learned from her, and stood by her the way she deserved. Because of them, Brinley never knew a moment without support.

Brinley spent 37 days in Seattle Children's Hospital, fighting for her life. As pulmonary hypertension began exhausting her already tired body. Every breath was work, everyday uncertain. She gave everything she had, when she was awake, her bright eyes would be so full  of life. Even at the lowest, the love from her family and staff meant that the light around her never wavered. The hope never dimmed.

Brinley was not only our baby. The family's new addition. But, she was Blakely's sister. Blakley at three years old, holds so much pure unfiltered love for her sister. She never once saw her as different. She only saw something written into her very DNA-this is my baby sister. She stayed  close, helped when she could, and cheered her on through everything. Their bond didn't need time to form and it can never be broken. It simply is. Just as her love for her sister, simple,  complete, perfect.

After a long brave battle Brinley passed away on January 22nd 2026. This is the section of these where the words fall flat. There is not enough of the English language to explain the love that exists for Brinley Sandra Kay Moore. There are not enough words in the entire world to sum up the feelings of loss that exist now that she is gone. The silence is the loudest. The empty space is immeasurable. There can be no replacement, as nothing would ever fit. She was here for such a short amount of time but she will remain forever, as the pieces that she left will never be forgotten. And the bits that she took, the pieces of our hearts and soul will never be returned. Brinely was our daughter. Our baby. Our future. A piece of us, our hearts, that walked around outside of our bodies. She is so loved. She matters to us today, she will matter to us tomorrow. She is in every step taken and every tear shed. She is our path forward. She could never be left behind.

She was welcomed into heaven by her grandfathers, Daryl Dahlen and Gary Hudelson; her great-grandfather, Harold Black; and her great godfather, Phillip King — those who went before her and now hold her close.

She leaves behind so much love on this earth. Brinley is deeply cherished by her mother, Melissa Dahlen; her father, Noah Moore; and her big sister, Blakely Moore, whose bond with her will live on forever. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandmother, Vikki Dahlen; her grandparents, Sarah and Kory Hudelson; her great-grandmothers, Marcy (Jeff) Black, Sandra Moore, and Bonnie (Jeff) Gore; her uncles, Elijah Michaud, Chasin Hudelson, and Braden (Riley) Moore; her aunts, Abigail and Madelyn Hudelson; and many extended family members who will carry her memory in their hearts always.

Friends may call on Saturday, February 28, 2026, after 10:00 am in the Duggan Dolan Mortuary Chapel.  A celebration of Brinley's very special life will be held at 11:00 am.
