Ann Bourke Tasker, 88, passed away surrounded by family on July 4, 2026, at BeeHive Homes in Butte, Montana. Known lovingly as "Boopie" to family and friends, she was born on July 3, 1938, in Helena, Montana, to Paul and Montana (Tana) Keith.

Bourke graduated from Central High School in Butte, MT where she was a side majorette and baton twirler. She went on to earn a degree in Sociology from Lone Mountain (now USF), which was the first college for women in San Francisco.

After graduating from college, Bourke became a kindergarten teacher at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in San Francisco. She met the love of her life, Herb while skiing at Squaw Valley. They were married in February at St. Patrick's Church in Butte and began a wonderful life together. Herb and Bourke made their home in Tustin, California, and later in the San Francisco Bay Area where they raised four children: Harold Treak, Elizabeth, Robert, and Christopher. Herb passed away in January of 2026, and they would have celebrated 63 years of marriage in February—a remarkable testament to their enduring love and commitment.

Bourke dedicated much of her time to volunteering and was a valued, active member of her community. In Tustin, she was an active member of the PTA at Mildred Morrow Elementary school serving as PTA president. She was also a member of the Assistance League of Tustin serving as chair of the Senior Phone Tree Program, organizing weekly calls to seniors to provide companionship, reduce feelings of loneliness, and ensure their well-being.

After moving to Lafayette in 1982, she joined the Assistance League of Diablo Valley (Northern CA). She was the chairman of the Operations School Bell project and also the Buena Vista Auxiliary for young women in their 20's and 30's. She also served on the Board of Trustees at JFK University in Orinda. She was an active member of the Happy Valley Garden Club, where her warm spirit and love of gardening led to many genuine friendships. She found great joy in botanical watercolor painting, and her beautiful artwork demonstrated her extraordinary artistic talent.

A woman of deep faith and commitment to community, Bourke also gave generously her time and talents. In Tustin, she taught 1st grade catechism at St. Cecilia's church. In Orinda, she volunteered at Santa Maria Church cleaning the altar, pews and vestibule on a weekly basis. She was also a devoted parishioner of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Butte, living by her values of service and faith.

Bourke was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Sandy (Darlene) Keith. She is survived by her children, H. Treak (Mary Jo) of Tulsa, OK, Robert B. (Kendra), Christopher B. (Tili) of Bozeman, MT, and Elizabeth M. of San Francisco, CA; ten cherished grandchildren—Willie (Rylea), JT (Bailey), Joseph, Tyler (Carlee), Montana, Caroline, Cash, Treak, Taylor Park, and Catie Park—and three great-grandchildren, Tommy, Hallie, and Kenny.

Bourke will be remembered for her devotion to family, her unwavering faith, and her love of spending every summer at the family cabin on Nez Perce Lake in Montana. She spent countless hours in the kitchen at Nez Perce cooking large meals for her children and grandchildren.  She also enjoyed spending time in her garden and sitting on the dock, watching her grandchildren swim.

Both Bourke and Herb instilled the love of Nez Perce in their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who cherish the cabin as their favorite place on earth—a lasting legacy of family, tradition, and togetherness.

Joint funeral services with Herb will be held at St. Patrick's church in Butte on August 7, 2026. Family will receive visitors after 10:00 am in St Patrick's Catholic Church.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am.    Rite of Committal will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. All are welcome to a reception for Herb and Bourke at Butte Country Club from 1:00 - 3:00 PM Those wishing to honor Bourke's memory may do so by sharing a story, offering a prayer, or making a donation to a charity of their choice.
