Arthur Daniel "Dan" Kennedy passed away on November 25, 2024 at the age of 92. Dan was born on June 24, 1932, the second child of Arthur and Eileen Kennedy. He attended St. Ann's Catholic School and graduated from Boys' Central in 1951. After graduation, he joined the Navy and served in the Korean War. Shortly after being honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned to Butte where he would meet the love of his life, Rose Jones. They would be married on March 2, 1957 in the Immaculate Conception Church.

Dan and Rose would leave Montana so Dan could take a job in Ohio where his first child Kathy was born. Deciding greener pastures lay elsewhere, he packed up the family and moved to Long Beach, California to work for McDonald Douglas Aircraft. In Long Beach, the family welcomed another daughter, Eileen and a son, Daniel. He said McDonald Douglas was a wonderful company to work for, but his hometown of Butte and the beauty of Montana called him back home. In Butte, Dan and Rose saw the family add two more daughters, Sherri and Colleen. After returning home, he found his calling, working for the Mountain Bell Telephone Co., installing and repairing phone lines in Butte and the surrounding areas. He would work for the telephone company for the next 35 years until his retirement in 1994.

He would make many lifelong friends who he would continue to share and make memories with. Well into his 90's, he enjoyed the weekly Wednesday morning coffee gathering with the boys, the monthly telephone company luncheons, and yearly picnic. In retirement, he bought a new truck and fifth wheel which was put to good use during many camping trips. But the place he and Rose loved best was Glacier National Park where many were surprised to see them hiking the trails into their mid-80's. He also enjoyed working in his yard and flower gardens and riding his ATV which he also did into his late 80's (no power steering either). He was a kind man who easily made friends and was always willing to help when needed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Eileen Kennedy, his daughter Colleen, and his sister and brother-in-law Jeanne and Richard Lynch. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Rose, his children Kathy (Jerry) Kozak of Helena, Eileen (Dale) Dolloff of Butte, Dan (Jackie) Kennedy of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Sherri Kennedy of Butte, his brother Jack Kennedy and his nephew John Kennedy of Great Falls, grandchildren Zachary Kozak of Helena, Cristian Gomez and Czelsi-Kozak Gomez of Phoenix, AZ, Amber Mize of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Dr. Travis Mize of Boulder, Colorado, great grandchildren Bridger and Alirae Mize of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Ann's Catholic Church on Friday, December 06, 2024, at 11:00 am.
