Andrew Cameron McFarland
September 7, 1950 – March 26, 2026
Andrew Cameron McFarland, 75, passed away on March 26, 2026.
He was born on September 7, 1950, to Lee and Ruth McFarland. He
was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John
McFarland.
Andrew graduated from the University of Montana in Missoula with a
degree in Skydiving. Later earned a degree in Geological Engineering
from Montana Tech. He went on to have a successful career in his
field.
Andrew loved Montana, his family, and cherished lifelong friendships.
He had a deep sense of adventure and loved being a Silver Tip
Skydiver, jumping out of airplanes, fishing at Georgetown Lake, and
taking his beloved four-legged companion on mountain adventures.
Music was always an important part of Andrew's life, from his early
teen years until just days before his passing! He played in his high
school band, later formed the Platinum Street Jazz Band from his
home on Platinum Street in Butte, Montana. He performed as a
stand-up bass player with the Butte Symphony for many years. Music
brought him great joy throughout his life.
Andrew is survived by his wife of 43 years, Charen McFarland; his
son, Matthew Cameron McFarland; his daughter, Molly (Jacob) Hunt ;
his grandchildren, Emily and Hailey McFarland, Peyton and Liam
Cameron Hunt and his brothers, Stuart and William "Bill" McFarland.
A celebration of life will be held on April 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at The
Front Street Station in Butte, Montana.
Andy has been loved by many and will be missed by many more!
