Allan James Peterson was born April 13, 1936 in Butte Montana, to Vic and Erna (Soderstrom) Peterson, and died March 11, 2025, at his home in Butte, Montana in the arms of his loving wife.  He graduated from Butte High School in 1954.  On June 3, 1956, Allan was united in marriage with the love of his life, Beverly Sutey. This coming June they would have been married for 69 years.  He worked as a Substation Operator for the Milwaukee Railroad in East Portal, Montana, Avery, Idaho, and Piedmont, Montana. When the railroad de-electrified in 1974 he started working for Montana Power as a Power Dispatcher.

Allan was always involved in any activities his sons participated in including boy scout leader. Whenever someone needed a volunteer, he never said no, including being the Whitehall city judge for a while. He loved traveling with his wife, Beverly, and they pulled their fifth wheel trailer to 48 States including Alaska and five Canadian Provinces. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and took them on numerous trips and also taught them all how to ski. He loved the outdoors, and he spent much time hunting with his sons and all of his "adopted" sons including many years at Hunting Camp. His true love was fishing. He took up and became a very proficient fly-fisherman.  He treasured the annual fishing trips to Sitka, Alaska.  Allan was also instrumental in the restoration and establishment of the Jefferson Valley Museum in Whitehall.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; two sons: Robert (Janie) of Vernal, Utah and David (Debra) of Chester, Idaho; a brother Gary (Carol) of Walnut Creek, California, and a sister Eleanor of Superior, Montana; three grandchildren: Colt Peterson of Boise, Idaho, Kali Peterson (Aleck Gantick) of Belgrade, Montana and Ceara Peterson of Vernal, Utah; and two great-granddaughters.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dean and Jay; grandson, Austin; sister-in-law, Norma and brother-in-law, Ed.

Friends may call on Monday after 10:00 am in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am.  Rite of Committal will follow in the Columbarium at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.  In leau of flowers, please consider donating to the Jefferson Valley Museum.
